I thought i posted something to the effect that my triathlon days are over after my accident, but i couldn't find the post, so maybe not.
I posted something about wanting to try ti get back took a triathlon on Facebook and my former coach suggested starting with an indoor tri. The advantage for new is that it's based on time, nor distance. So i swam for a bit, but only did 250 yards in 15 minutes (that used to be enough time for 750 yds). Then we switched to stationary bikes. I think my average speed was 14.8 mph, which isn't bad for me. I walked most of the run, but i did it.
I actually didn't come in last. I did come in next to last.
There's another indoor tri coming up in a few weeks, so my goal is to beat this one.
I'm thinking of getting a recumbent bike so i can do a "regular" triathlon in may. I may do the novice distance (the standard is a sprint). I'm hoping to check out a used recumbent bike on Friday.

Re: Indoor triathlon
Good for you! It's important to get back into movement after a setback. Especially after a major one. I had a procedure to fix atrial fibrilation in September of 2023, and I still have to watch my heart rate, but I've worked up to 70 minutes on the treadmill, logging around 3.25 miles five days a week. Keep looking for the signals your body is giving you to either dial it back or push it a little. Eventually you'll come to realize you've made great strides.

I decided not to get a recumbent bike. I've taken a couple of rides on my regular bike, working on my balance. I may be able to do the may triathlon, but i might do the novice (shorter distances, but may still be a stretch) instead of the sprint.

As long as you keep moving. Consider yourself just starting out instead of starting over. The mindset has a lot to do with it, as I'm sure you're aware.
