Beer or pinball, or pinball and beer!
I have not been brewing for awhile and went to the Mr Beer site and it looked empty. I am glad to see names I know from the old site. I did not post much on the Mr Beer site and under a different name.
My main hobby now is pinball, but playing pinball goes well with beer. I must admit though I am not much of a beer drinker, I prefer whiskey or hard cider. I tend to make hard cider without adding sugar or other boosters to get a higher ABV just cider and yeast, or apple juice and yeast depending on the season. I use a wine yeast for fermenting. My son, who is only a beer drinker, tasted some of my cider and said it was a drink he could drink all day.
There is a new Star Trek pinball machine coming out so maybe I really can be assimilated if I buy one, and of course drink beer while playing it.

One the pinball side of things, if your ever here in Vegas there is a place called the Pinball Hall of Fame! It is by far one of the coolest places on the planet. As a video game junkie of the 70's and on I have many a fond memory of dropping my allowance one quarter at a time at the Video Arcade. This is their website:
http://www.pinballmuseum.org/
They have over 150 different pinball machines from the 50's to the 90's and over 50 different video games. I love this place!!! The place is run not for profit and the owner of all the machines (yes one person owns ALL the machines) just takes enough to pay power, rent and some upkeep on the machines, but then donates the rest!! If you are between the ages of 30 to 80 and you like arcade games you will find something you like! All machines are either $.25 or $.50 for some of the newer 90's pinball. I took my brother, Mom and Dad there when they came to visit and we spent over 5 hrs playing games, it was awesome. My brother is 33, I'm 46 and my folks are both 64 and we all just had a blast playing the machines from our youth. Check them out if your in town and you want to drop quarters into something else besides a slot machine!!!

Thanks for telling me about the Pinball Hall Of Fame. It sounds interesting I do not know if I will ever make it out that way I myself am 65 and do not travel much. My pinball collection is only at 3 with one on order from a start up company. We have a place here in Lafayette Indiana that is smaller than the Pinball Hall Of Fame with 30 pinball machines, and some arcade games, and I have not even made it there to play and I am only 45 miles away.

I bet you cannot wait for the 50th anniversary Dr Who show, I know I cannot. I hope the new Dr is good, but I have my doubts from seeing him on an earlier episode of Dr Who.
Sadly I finally had to get rid of my Dr Who pinball machine. It was really shot when I bought it 6 years ago and was breaking down on a weekly basis.

Stouts are my favorite beer, and I just happen to have some oatmeal stout fermenting now so the name just popped into my head.Brewbirds wrote:You call your self Oatmeal Stout but mostly make ciders? No worries we have a section for that, want to try wine? We've got that covered too.
No real interest in wine, I did try making mead, but prefer cider. I saw there were not very many posts in the cider section yet.

First Glad you followed us here!
Secondly, BEER AND PINBALL!!!!!
Back in June my home brew club had our monthly meeting at a friend of one of our members "Flipper Club"! It is basically a big warehouse space in an industrial complex where this guy houses his collection of over a hundred pinball and other coin op machines. So imagine about 20 guys walking into a dark warehouse with coolers full of homebrew and the owner hits the main breaker causing every machine to come to life with beeps, dings, whirls and chirps! It was really cool!
