Brewery names....what's your story?

Post by Inkleg »

As most of you know, I have a Sphynx cat. We have had Bela (the mascot) for 6-7 years now. Tobias (aka Kitty T) was with us for a little over a year. First and foremost this breed does not behave like cats. More monkey/dog like in their behavior. I have grown to love the breed and will become one of those crazy cat guys with these cats. It just seemed fitting to go with....

Like you, Jeff, my brewery name was coined from my cat Sebastian Rufus, which I nicknamed Mr. Rufus. Also, like your Sphynx cats, this black domestic shorthair acts very doglike. He loves to scratch at the doorwall to be let out. Not to go pee, but just to stare at the lizards and squirrels, and to lounge on his favorite patio chair, catching some rays.

Mine is Ralph and Roger's Pub and Brew. This encompasses not just my brewery but my mancave pub as well. Ralph is more than just a dog to me as he is all I come home to. So I gave him top billing.

Mine is Antler Brewing. I love to deer hunt. And have been lucky enough to put two bucks on the wall. Plus, I thought it has a nice sound to it. I've got a girl I work with designing the logo. I'll post here when it's done. Should be pretty cool.

Broke Racer Brewing is something I thought up just around the time this forum was created and we all came over. Hadn't thought of one before when I started brewing just over a year ago but decided it was time and this was the first thing that came to mind. I don't get to do much racing anymore because of how much cost is involved now so being too broke to race much I've been focusing most on brewing as of late. It's also much more affordable.

For me, the name isn't all that great or have a great story: Jimbo Homebrew Co. I, like many people, got a MB kit for Christmas from the wife. I was hooked as soon as I opened the box. As soon as I brewed a batch I was planning way beyond what I needed to, and even tried to design labels and logos. I am not very artistic so no logo, and my labels were simple. Seeking to not let that deter me from trying to "play professional brewer" I was seeking a name. We had some friends over, and they tried my beer, and actually suggested the Jimbo Homebrewery. I then settled on Jimbo Homebrew Co., and SWMBO hated it, because I was not a "company." So, being a bit of a defiant one, it stuck.

Mine is PAB's ---Pink Ass Baboon. This goes back to my college brewing days when I made beer that my female friends said made their lips numb. A long story for a time when we're drinking and discussing all good things.

Damn, I have to follow the pink baboon's ass?

Mine is pretty straight-forward. When I'm not brewing or doing one of a million other things I enjoy, I both train in and teach TaeKwonDo. I like alliterations for names of beers so BBB was born.

I name a lot of my beers after my animals, too. My German Shepherd appears on a lot of labels (when I'm not kegging).

I think it's cool to see how many people (thus far) incorporate their furry family members into things.
Naked cats, excepted :p

Well, I'm really into wide-brimmed hats, as my username suggests. So the extension of that is Fedora Brauhaus. I chose the German just because I felt it went better with Fedora than "Brewery" or "Brewing" or any other permutation of the term. No logo yet, but I consider that an extremely low-priority item.

I don't have a brewery name yet. I've been toying around the idea of "Root's Brew" but that's the only thing I've come up with so far.

Me mum passed away back in 1990 from breast cancer and as such with my business, I am a proud supporter and fundraiser for cancer research, thus "Save 2nd Base Brewery"...

Along came my grandkids and with them and their situation of recent times, I opened up my drinking establishment under the name of "Stop Child Abuse Pubhouse"

My grandparents were probably the biggest influence in my life. Simple people, raising their family, and being a part of their community. My grandfather passed away a little over 5 years ago, and my grandmother is living with cancer.
I named my brewery after them...

Lenwoode & Merle Brewing.

I'm still looking for an old photo of them in the old black and white days to use

Mine is "Wandering Star Ale" with my avatar. Wandering Star is my boat, pictured. On the bottom of the label it says "Off We Go". Jane and I were sailing in a very small boat in a very light breeze once. Every time we got a puff, she'd say "Off we go!". Yeah, she's a bit of a smartass. But it's become our motto in every adventure.
Making beer and stew for the Zombie Apocalypse.
Never mind, there it is.
