Re: Stone Levitation clone question
Thanks for the review Ron. You're spot on with my tastes and I'll do this one again but won't use 04. I'm just not liking the 3 beers I've use 04 in.
My keg with extra hops added, is almost gone but I think I like the bottle first since it was done without the gelatin. I'm sure that stole some flavor from my brew.
Did you use gelatin in your version this time or have you found out that it does steal from the flavor and aroma?
I'll have to brew something that tastes good and send you proof that every now and again, I'm on.

I used gelatin on this one in the keg but I won't anymore. With the amount of dry hops I used I'm convinced that it stole the aroma and some flavor. I'm guessing that others that use it just adjust for it. I will say that keg-hopping did help out tremendously but I don't think I'll be using it anymore.

Ron, 3 out of 3 DeWeese's said we brewed the same beer. My wife and son could not tell which was which. The only way I could tell, was I poured them.
Color-same
Aroma-same
Taste-same
Mouth feel-same
Mine in on the left and has some condensation on the glass from being poured first. You brew a damn fine beer sir.

Nice!
I just about kicked the keg today. It's better now than it ever was but not good enough to win my seal of approval. I'm glad 2 out of 3 of us can brew beer.

That's funny, but not true. Luckily those of us that have had your beers know better.

I'm with Ron on this. Any beer that does not meet your standards Paul, PLEASE send my way for proper disposal.Kealia wrote:Beer-lord wrote:Nice!

I did send you that fusel Pliny but I'm sure I'll have more bad ones.
On that note, my friends drank lots of my Pliny yesterday and still insist I don't dump it. It has improved a wee bit but there's still some fusel notes on it. I'm beginning to wonder about their taste in beer.

The more I think about this, the more amazing it really is. Thinking about the difference in water, procedures, etc. it really is pretty cool to end up with two beers that taste the same.Inkleg wrote:Ron, 3 out of 3 DeWeese's said we brewed the same beer. Hmm, notice that nobody but us three have posted to this thread in quite a while? I think we ran 'em off
Re: Stone Levitation clone question
The 3 Amigos, 3 Muskateers or 3 Stooges?
I think when I brew this again, I'm not using 04. So I don't have to go looking again, what yeast did you guys use?
I know yeast make a huge difference but I also know that 04 and my taste buds just don't seem to get along. 05 wouldn't be my choice. I wonder if 002 or even 1450 would be an option. And, I wouldn't rule out Windsor or even Notty.

Does that make me Larry, Curly or Moe?
I've used WLP007 every time I've brewed this. I'll stick a bottle in the mail for you sometime in the next week after I taste my revised Summer Ale so you can see how you like it with that one.

Re: Stone Levitation clone question
Gracias, of course I will 'beer it forward' when I a few ready to bottle.
007 might be the same strain as 04 but I am not sure.
