Re: Weavels, mold and clumpy hops...
I suppose it is possible that he(or his wife)(or both) were key factors in the quality department and now they lost that talent when they started focusing on the brewery. I don't know any of that for a fact. Just speculatingBrewbirds wrote:Wow that is a surprise. If he is still an owner and running a miro you would that better quality control issues would be in place. He must not have a management role at the store.joechianti wrote:You know, I thought they changed owners too, because the couple who own the micro brewery we went to for a sample tour said they owned AHBS before they opened the brewery. So I just assumed they sold the store to run the brewery. But the next time I went back for more samples, I mentioned something to the effect of a new owner at the store and they told me that in fact they did not sell the store but are running both businesses now. Of course, that could be spreading one's self too thin. Maybe and maybe not. Just a thought.

Well we put together a brew to use up all of the rest of our (okay) AHS stuff so they lost a customer and it seems they don't even care ( maybe they got bought by Coopers).joechianti wrote:I suppose it is possible that he(or his wife)(or both) were key factors in the quality department and now they lost that talent when they started focusing on the brewery. BB2 is going to try MoreBeer for a while and watch for sales from others.

I came across a thread on HBT on the topic of weevils at AHS and thought you might want to read it.
Obviously the mold is still an issue.

I've got 12 pounds of grain from them when I bought my buy one get one free deal on the Pliny clone. I better take a look at the bag tonight. I hope I don't have any those little pointy nosed bastards crawling around in there.

Toss 'em in the boil with the hops and see if any of them jump on the hops to try and stay afloat!
Re: Weavels, mold and clumpy hops...
There was an e-mail circulating in the local home brew club this morning about running out of inventory for major ingredients.
I begin to wonder if they will "Under New Management" soon.

The guy that posted on HBT had that grain for a long time while I had just bought mine so AHS's response about storage conditions points to THEIR grain room in my case.Kealia wrote:I came across a thread on HBT on the topic of weevils at AHS and thought you might want to read it.
