Excellent news! Congratulations!

Congratulations to everyone Dave.
I hear home brewed beer is a big hit at weddings. 20 gallons is about right, 10 of your Pilsner and 5 each of your Crown Top and Ambers Amber should be just right. Do the Pilsner first, the longer lager times will benefit it.

Great news Dave. The holidays are such a great time for family. I was fortunate a few years ago to have my daughter and her husband, and my son and his wife announcing they were all having children and neither new about it. One of the great days of my life. Cheers

Re: Big news in the Hat Family
Now here's an interesting thing:
He has an uncle who works for the DEA, so it might not be cool to have me bring homebrew to serve all the guests. But he's having two groomsmen, and he was thinking that, as a gift to them, I could brew something and they could each get a couple sixers. I suggested they could be given in those wooden holders with a bottle opener mounted on them, and that went over pretty well.
So here's the thing.
They might find out what styles the guys like, and then I could whip up something special in that style, or I could just come up with something neat, like an Imperial IPA, and do that, making special labels, and whatnot. A third option is seeing if there's something traditional for late summer weddings, and I could make something in that style for them, again, with the special holders and labels.
So. Any ideas? I'm kinda leaning toward an IIPA.

Congratulations to you and the family FD.
I say make it one of The Hat's house brews. Your specialty for a special occasion.
What's with the DEA guy being a problem if you aren't selling it. Oh and maybe invite that guy over for a home brew, teach him how to brew, and then you can ply him with legal questions from the Borg whenever they come up.

If they are not hop heads then a IIPA may go over well, then Ol Dave's in trouble with the DEA, not good. Do you have a good recipe for a toilet hooch?
That's where the good solid (what we may call normal) beers come in (Pale Ales, Lagers, Brown Ales), everyone likes them. Ask, find out what people drink. My go to question, before giving a first time drinker of one of my beers is "If I opened the fridge at your house, what would I find". That gives me knowledge for where to start.
I would also be happy and proud to send a sixer of anything I have on tap or in bottles to add to your gifting.

Congrats! When my oldest daughter got married way back in 2012, we had a couple of kegs for the reception; a pale ale & an IPA: 'Hoppily Ever After'. Good times! Here it is, a year and a half later, and now we're expecting to be first-time grandparents next summer!
Drinking: Columbus Double India Pale Ale
