Thought about this one all day....could wait no longer. I always try to give my honest opinion and we all have our likes and dislikes but damn, this is one hell of a beer!!!! We all know I'm all about the IPA and this one is the quintessential West Coast IPA. I've paid good money for craft beers in my life and I would pony up whatever it costs to drink this one. In fact, after my recent snafu with it, I'm moving this up to my next brew though I just know it won't be this good.
First, the pour....crystal clear with a minor head on it. Excellent lacing and carbonation. The aroma screams PINE. There is a forward bite but it's not at all in the way of the awesomeness that is FLAVOR. Tons of love and hops went into this one.
Jeff, a few questions if I may. Did you use a secondary for all the hops and whether you did or not, did you dry hop in bags or commando? Lastly, I think you said you keg hopped so if so, I assume you added more hops or used the 2nd dry hop in the recipe for the keg?

Uhm, ok guys I am humbled and speechless now. Your kind words and praise are truly appreciated. Hot sweaty romance beer drinking novels, well that's just above and beyond.
I enjoy brewing beer, I enjoy sending beer to friends and I am glad that my friends enjoy it. It's that simple.
Do I brew good beer, yes.
But when I think about why I brew good beer, one thought comes to mind. Everyone here on this forum and friends from the old place that we don't hear from anymore is why I'm able to brew good beer.
Y'all held my hand in the beginning, y'all answered my silly ass question with out making me feel like a fool, y'all have been there for me through thick and thin and that is what has made all the difference. You all have made my beer what it is and I thank you.
Paul, I just uploaded the Pliny recipe I used with the notes to my BeerSmith cloud. It's under Inkleg.
I checked the FG at 8 days and it was at 1.011. Transferred to a secondary and added the first 1oz each dry hop commando style. 8 days after that I transferred to the keg with another 1oz of each Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe.

My recipe and your first recipe shows the 2nd dry hop was only about 1/4 oz of each but you went with 4 times that much for the 2nd dry hop. No wonder I thought I was in a pine forest!

Jeff any suggestions on a way to simulate those hop additions for those of us doing LBK sized batches without a secondary or keg. It doesn't seem like just throwing more in once would cut it.Transferred to a secondary and added the first 1oz each dry hop commando style. 8 days after that I transferred to the keg with another 1oz of each Centennial, Columbus and Simcoe.
The way the flavors yours had were both layered and balanced must have had something to do with the multiple additions wouldn't you say?
I'd love to try and brew something anywhere to this good.

Can't speak for Inkleg but I got mine at a Dollar Store and laser engraved them myself. You can usually find them locally at an engraving shop or go online to stores. They can be done either etched (sand blasted) or laser engraved (basically, just scratching the glass). Etching is usually more expensive and lasering usually quicker.
I do plan on selling these locally if any of my customers are interested but by the time I shipped them to someone, it would likely be better for them to buy locally if they can.

Sorry for the late reply BB. The double dry hop does seem to make a difference. For those that have brewed it, a secondary does seem to add more hop flavor by not having as much trub for the hops to sink into.
