Thinking about another high dollar purchase.

I was just looking at this

I like that it can be pressurized with CO2 so leg extensions or transfer pumps are not necessary. It would look cool sitting in my man cave pub bringing a brew pub atmosphere to it. And aside from being able to drain the yeast cake out with all of the hop debris before racking, it would eliminate lifting, which is a biggie for me these days. Plus it is 14.5 gallons so IF I ever decided to go to 10 gallon batches this thing could accommodate them. Right now would be a good time to buy as midwest is offering $50 off any purchase until tomorrow. But I just hate letting go of $600 without thinking on it a while.

Very Cool!

I'ld have to put it on industrial casters to move it around easily.

Once again, out of my price range but damn, I'd love it. Except I'd need one with a cooler on it as mine would never stay chilled enough. Morebeer has one like that.

This is very cool Roger. I think you should definitely get one.

A SS Conical is on my wish list as well. My biggest concern would be temp control. I would need to figure that out first. Also, Stout Tanks has that size normally for $589 (and a 7.3 gallon for $350ish). Gives you another option to ponder.

Conical Fermenter
Fermenting: Bucket 1 - Fresh Squeezed IPA; Bucket 2 - Empty

Kegged: Keg 1 - Irish Red; Keg 2 - Cream Ale; Keg 3 - Amber Ale; Keg 4 - APA; Keg 5 - Empty; Keg 6 - Empty; Keg 7 - Empty

That's one sweet piece of equipment! What about temp control for this big boy? You may need a dedicated full size fridge for that!

Check my link and you'll see it can be chilled and heated with the adapter.

I think I have conical envy!

man... 600 bucks.. that's a lot to shell out for equipment. for me it is anyway. if it's a viable option for you, and you don't mind the expense, go for it!

I would like to get one if I could get the wife to let me use the kitchen frig as a fermentation chamber. :give:

My basement stays a constant 68F year round so I dont know why I would need a cooler for it. I never did for my buckets. Why would this be different?

I've seen one of these at my LHBS, though I think it might be bigger as it comes up to my shoulder or so.

No price on it as I believe it belongs to a local micro since it has their logo on it. Very impressive though. :wow:

I would think especially if you go to 10 gallon batches, the heat generated by fermentation might become difficult to regulate with just ambient air temp.

Gwcr that makes sense. But since I have no desire to go to 10 vallon batches anytime soon I should be OK for now.

I looked at the stout conicles. They are nice but dont have the pressurization feature. And that is a huge selling point for me.

Not listed in the details for each conical, but at the top of the page it says "Holds Pressure: Fermenters hold 4psi for CO2 transfer." Easy to miss, cuz it took me a bit to find where it was again...
