I shouldn't but I did anyway
I am a bad boy but fell for it. This has been hard to get and I got an email last week stating they'd have 300 to ship and it was going to be first come, first serve. It was supposed to open at 12 PST and it started at 11:58 PST and by 12:02, all 300 were gone. Some guys ordered 6 or 8 buckets.
This is not a conical, just a couple of steps up from a plastic bucket (I'm really trying to not rationalize my impulsive purchase). I figure (more rationalizing) that I go thru buckets every 18 months due to scratches etc and in 13 years, this will pay for itself.
Let's see, 2 plastic buckets and a Speidel and now this. PAB's Brewery is up and running.

Ooh, shiny. Good on ya Paul, no matter how you rationalize it, you deserve it.

Nice! I'd want one if I brewed more, I just can't justify it right now. Still, VERY nice!

I'm glad that they're hard as Hell to get your hands on. Because I want one real bad and there'd be Hell - as well as SWMBO - to pay if I bought one at this point in time.
I'm still waiting for Brew Demon to come out with a larger version of their fermenter.

Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Very nice. I don't know if I'd spring for one myself, but I don't blame you for getting one.

I was going to get one or at least try, but I am on a small college student budget and I don't know how I would keep the temp controlled, as this would fit in my red bull cooler. That's awesome you snagged one! I'm hoping to see some updates when you put it to use!

Re: I shouldn't but I did anyway
I think I can still fit this in my Cool Fermenting bag though I may have to use a blow off tube instead of an airlock. It's 24" high with an airlock and the bag is 24" high. It'll be close.
You can't really pull the yeast out the bottom like a conical but from the 100 or so people who've used them, they all seem to love them. Of course if I put down $175 I'd not want to say I wasted my money. But, I wouldn't be me if I spent $175 and felt good about it.
No food for a month for me!

I agree with Chuck N. If they were easy to get I would probably get myself into trouble.
Re: I shouldn't but I did anyway
Congrats on the hardware. Their conical looks nice too
Re: I shouldn't but I did anyway
That's funny that it's "only" 24 inches tall. From the first pic it looks like I could bathe in it (and I'm 6'3").
Nice Paul, really nice.

I think you may discover an improvement in your beer from fermenting in stainless over plastic.
Re: I shouldn't but I did anyway
I would like a wider/shorter 3 gallon version of such a thing.

i'm so jealous. swmbo's been a real sport about this hobby so far, but there are limits. if somebody made a 6.5 gal plastic one, it would probably be in my price range.
