Watching the race that never was... my Black porte, SA Rebel IPA...
Re: What are you drinking?
Just had a MB Nut Brown Ale (conditioned over two months) along with a thick porter house steak, and garlic mashed potatoes. YUMMMM. Can't get much better (Well, it could, but my wife would not cook while wearing that skimpy French maid's outfit). Don't even think of asking for pictures!

Re: What are you drinking?
Started tonight with one of my Fat Tire clones, first bottle out of the batch and it's only been bottled a little over 2 weeks but it did some good secondary time, Mmm I like this beer. Not an exact copy of FT but I like it, this is my third 5 gal batch of it. Then a Cream Stout I bottled 1/3/14, lots better then my first sample, a few more weeks and it will be right on. Then had a Shiner Bock a friend gave me, had it before I like it OK. Then on to a Shiner Wild Hare PA, never tried one and was hoping for a SN type PA and it wasn't. The more I tasted it I kept thinking it's exactly like something I have made, then it hit me, almost a dead ringer for the Cream Ale I brew, a nice somewhat sweet malt flavor without much hop presence and a little bitter on the ending. A good beer for somebody not quite ready for an all out hop assault.
.....Now going to open one of my Hop Head Double IPA's ....It's time to taste some beer.

And I'm going to reply on this thread also because you have created a work of art. The beer looks excellent and the bottle and label are showcase.Ibasterd wrote:My Spiced Belgian Krampus ale. Grub Vom Krampus!

Yes it seems to be an endless winter, but if I escape, I know where and what I'm heading for.Ibasterd wrote: I f you ever get out of the endless Winter and make it to FL, I'll save you one.

Re: What are you drinking?
Tried a Sam Adams Rebel IPA today. It definitely tastes like any other IPA I've ever had, thus confirming that I just do not like the style. Much too hoppy for my tongue. It was more drinkable for me once it warmed up and the malt had a chance to come through.
Re: What are you drinking?
Finally! Pliny the Elder! Delicious beer as I suspected. Rich hop flavor and aroma without being overpoweringly bitter. This is my kind of IPA. Thanks Ron!

Re: What are you drinking?
See, with any IPA I just have a hard time believing that somewhere in there is a beer that doesn't taste like soap because of so much hops.
Today I went full malt overload- St. Sebastian Tripel. After almost 4 months, this is getting soooooo good. It's like someone snuck in and stuffed oranges and bubblegum into the beer. And a few sips are putting me down for the count, at 9.5% ABV! This would go really well with a few pieces of Belgian chocolate. MAN, I MISS BRUGES!

I am with you on that. I can't stand IPA's that rip the taste buds from your tongue because of the bitterness. IPA's have been growing on me though, and this Pliny is certainly one of my favoritesphilm00x wrote:See, with any IPA I just have a hard time believing that somewhere in there is a beer that doesn't taste like soap because of so much hops.

Re: What are you drinking?
Definitely on my beer bucket list. Just cuz there's so much hype and fame surrounding that beer. Otherwise, my Bubs Pale Ale is the best hoppy beer I've ever had.
