A Call for Test Brewers!

Post by LouieMacGoo »

As some of you know I have been working with an author, helping her with recipes such as the imperial rye that I mentioned in another post. I have just received a second recipe for a Belgian Pale Ale that I hope to start brewing here in the next couple of weeks. Along with this recipe she sent me a request for additional testers to help with some Lager recipes either 1 or 5 gallon batches. If you decide to help you will need to keep very good notes of the brew day process, fermentation and bottling to share back with the author.

So what's in it for you for helping? Well besides getting a new recipe and a batch of home brewed beer, your name will appear in the acknowledgement section of the book as well as a small "honorarium" to help defer the cost of the ingredients of the brew. You will also receive a signed copy of the book once it is published.

So far I have found doing this testing fun and challenging, I really makes me think about my process and how I do things differently from what the author is asking.

If you are interested please let me know! and I will forward your email address to her! Right now she is only in need of testers that have a Lagering set up and are able to commit to doing lager style beers.

This is a really good opportunity for anyone that is interested and will also help with recognition of the BeerBorg!

:thanks:

So does she supply the recipe? Or do we have to come up with our own?

Either way...I can do lagers. I'm very much interested in helping.

Leigh, you had me at "Blah, blah, blah" . I have a temperature controlled fridge, time for a lager (need to move that Sour out of there anyway), can also make starters for lagers, have a pen to keep notes with and if I'm brewing it might as well be 5 gallons, plus I need to brew something anyway.

Only problem is I'm not a well rounded computer kinda guy. I manage to hold my own here, I check my email a few times a week  , but I'm willing to help out. So feel welcome to add me to the lager list.

Sounds cool and I wish I could but while ya'll are freezing in the north, it's balmy down south. But I'll gladly help by drinking if that's needed. And no acknowledgement is necessary. :laugh

The recipes have been developed by the author and will be sent to testers to brew. You will be asked to follow the process as closely as possible and report how well it worked and any issues. Also any suggestions that you might have.

I will be contacting several of you soon with info and details! Thanks for the interest. I knew I count on the Borg!

I would volunteer to do a non lager. I have not done a lager, probably could but have not to date. I don't think my learning to do my first one would help her out. I would do an ale for her. Let me know if it interest her. I've got a lot of 2-row needing used.

Okay Gentilmen, I just sent some private messages out to a few of you that expressed interest. If you didn't get a PM from me it's because there was a limited number brewers needed and I had to have cut off. If she needs more testers I will certainly let the Borg know!

Thanks everyone and I look forward to reading/hearing about your brewing experiences!

The recipe book is available for pre-order on Amazon now and comes out on May 5th. I noted on her instagram that she gets a bit of a kickback if you link to Amazon (or other retailers) via her blog instead of directly.

I'm totally going to make this one...

I was planning to pre-order, but reading back through this thread, I see the following:
your name will appear in the acknowledgement section of the book as well as a small "honorarium" to help defer the cost of the ingredients of the brew. You will also receive a signed copy of the book once it is published.
Sweet... I had totally forgotten that...
