In defense not of him throwing it like he did but just think of any of the carriers and their systems and how the machinery works in the sort area of the hubs. This is probably minimal of how they are handled there. The real care is in the packing of the product inside the box, how careful we are in bubble wrapping each bottle and keeping each bottle separate from the others, including double boxing for that extra care and love of our homebrews. Just saying.

FYI, package sorting for USPS, UPS and Fedex is all automated and involves packages on speeding belts, tilt tray sorters that flip them down chutes, sometimes tumbling down chutes, tossing from one person to another to load a truck, piles tipping over in truck, ... That's nothing.

It doesn't show, but when they load a truck often the packages come on a conveyor, and one employee tosses them to another who stacks them in the truck - unless of course they are too heavy.

Looks like T8rSalad said basically the same thing when I was typing.
I have over 9,000 posts on "another forum", which means absolutely nothing. Mr. Beer January 2014 Brewer of the Month with all the pomp and circumstance that comes with it...

I've got a pretty good relationship with my UPS drivers and they tell me things they shouldn't like, "don't ever ship something you care about UPS unless you double insure it". They throw and toss everything because numbers are the game.

That driver should have his ass fired.

Yes, speed and efficiency is paramount in the shipping industry. I'm all about speed and efficiency in my job, too. But that doesn't mitigate breaking the speed limit to get to my next service, for instance, or skimping on a service when I get there.

Sadly, quantity has surpassed quality in importance in every aspect of today's business'.
Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
Are awake through years with transferred touch and go on glowing
For long years.
And for this reason some old things are lovely
Warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.

Ok, now that someone in the class has been reprimanded, for full disclosure, someone did recently send me some beer (that I've yet to drink but that's what this weekend is for) via USPS. It survived the trip so it's only fair to mention that.
Not that I am naming names or even dog avatars or anything!
