Did this to 49 bottles

Had my first infection. Haven't had time to check my notes, it was a Double Chocolate Coffee Stout. Oh well, things happen.

i had a batch do that one actually touched the ceiling
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Serious bummer. I'm waiting for my first infection since I re-started brewing. Hope it doesn't hit you again.

tragic....yet strangely fascinating. i wouldve opened them in a large bucket like a laundry hamper that was cleaned... and drank the beer foam after it settled. unless there was glass in it of course. curious that the same grain might be the culprit that did in fedora daves. did it at least taste like beer? or was it totally ruined?

Luckily every infection I've gotten is just my house Brett C strain, and I like it, so it just makes life interesting.

Now you all have me scared! I've got a milk stout that's been in the bottle for about 3 1/2 weeks.
Just chucked one in the freezer for a test drive!

I wondered the same thing. Curious that it's those darker beers that we use the chocolate malt in. The only lighter one of mine that gushed was a batch of South Ferry Steam Beer, but I did use a touch of chocolate malt in it, for color and body.

I guess next time I use chocolate malt, I'm going to write down a lot more information about it, just to keep closer track.

Hey guys, was it British or Belgian chocolate?

FWIW, I used British in mine (SRM450) , 7 weeks ago.
The one I just pulled from the freezer and drank had a decent head, but did not gush.
In fact, it's been in the bottle for over three weeks now, and I think it's undercarbed!
Also, if you boil it, how can it infect your beer?
That would come in at bottling, wouldn't it?
Things that make you go Hmmmm....

My 2 cents!
Hope you get it figured out!
