I need to brew again

Post by Beer-lord »

Been 3 weeks today and I likely can't brew for another week or two as I have to wait for doc's approval. RedBEERd is going to help me keg my Levitation tomorrow and while I prolly could sneak a brew, I think it's best I follow advice and not make a mess of things. Thankfully I have a pipeline (though I'm not crazy about what I need to finish). One thing is for sure, I'll be doing lots of brewing in a short period of time and that's what I'm looking forward to.
So, if you're brewing, fill my needs by telling me what you've got planned.

Your probably right...it's best to follow the doc's advise and not make a mess of things. Hopefully he will clear you earlier than anticipated.

Or you could take a trip down south, hire RedBEERd and brew a few batches for me. Of course, the lawn will need to be cut, the dog washed, the house cleaned. Oh, and how are you at cooking? Maybe bring Jeff's kilt just in case.

Well, I'm bottling a 2.5 of Rushin' Pale Ale this afternoon, and then tomorrow morning I'm brewing a 2.5 of Tennessee Cream Ale.

Stop by keep me company, if you want; it'll probably only take you about 36 hours to drive up here. :p

Not sure if I'll be able to drive after I come back from NOLA on tap. That's why the boss is driving. But, I'll be with you in spirit.

Yea, I hear ya. Was planning on brewing today.... PERFECT WEATHER TOO, but life got in the way. May have to take a day off to do my pumpkin otherwise I won't be able to make it for another 2-3 weeks. Going to pour beer at a brewfest next sunday, in-law visiting the following sunday and so that would mean another 3 weeks. Not ideal for the pumpkin beer so I think I may have to work it in during the week.

I went to the LHBS today to pick up some grain for my SMaSH. While I was there I noticed they had a Pumpkin Ale recipe for $20 so I grabbed it and decided to brew that tonight while my daughters are at the homecoming dance. This will be the first time since May that I've brewed! So looking forward to it!

Yes, pay attention to doctor's orders. No brewing for me this weekend, I have too much else to do and the pipeline is good now.

Tomorrow I will dry hop my Nelson Sauvin Pale Ale with......Nelson Sauvin - what else?!!?
I'll also check in on the Fresh Squeezed clone and see how it's doing. It's been one week so it should be starting to settle and clear already. Next weekend I'll cold crash (starting Friday) and rack it from the bucket to a carboy for it's dry hop while I keg the Nelson.

So, if you makes you feel any better, I likely won't brew for about 3-4 more weeks (by choice).

I feel for you. But I also offer hope to you at the same time. I had to stop brewing from last October until this May because the Celiac and the Gout together were just too much to handle. I was miserable without my beer. I missed brewing it way more than I missed drinking it. I finally got the conditions mostly under control with diet, exercise and medicine. Also found out that Clarity Ferm removes gluten, so I use it religiously now. Since mid May, I've brewed a case of beer, (meaning a very full LBK), every other week like clock-work, and I'm thrilled. It's all been extract with a little bit of steeping, only because I had so much extract aging on me while I wasn't brewing, and I'm not going to let it go to waste. I have to use that up before I can continue with all grain BIAB again. You'll be brewing again and loving it even more after the layoff.

Glad to hear from you Joe, and that you are doing well. I was just wondering.
BeerLord, rest up and be careful. And brew vicariously. I just bottled a batch of Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale, with nearly four pounds of pumpkin in the mash. First time I brewed a pumpkin batch, it tastes really good un-carbed.

It's great to hear from you Joe. I'm glad you've been brewing.
My next PT is Monday and I am going to ask about it. I think I should be fine for brewing next week or for sure, the week after. Don't think they'll let me cut my lawn yet which is costing me $40 a week to have done. I could brew more than 6 gallons for that each week but I try not to think about it. It's only money and when you don't have any, you can't miss it.

Keep up the good work Joe. John, it's great to try new things and wow, 4 lbs of pumpkin. Dayum!

As time goes on, I realize just how much I really enjoy brewing, and lately I've only been able to brew once a month. I need a bigger ferm chamber so that I can brew more than one batch at a time. Maybe time to invest in a chest freezer instead of the little mini fridge I've got. Can't wait to brew again next week!

Gotta say I'm loving my cheap chest freezer. So many people say if you want a ferm chamber to get a fridge instead but I like the freezer more as it just works for m and my space issues.
My concern is that if I brew 2 weeks apart, 1 fermenter is almost ready for the cold crash but the other will still need to be at 65 so I'm not sure how I will work that out other then using my Cool Fermenting bag that I've used for years.
Either way, its great that I have options.
