Good luck!! I think you will find that this is the best decision of your life. While the recovery is a challenge, in 6 months you will be doing things you haven't been able to for years, including riding your bike. My patients uniformly tell me they are happy and wondered why they took so long to have it done.

Thankyou for the well wishes. My surgery date is Oct 8. As much as it frightens me I am so tired of dealing with the pain I am ready for it. My biggest concern is being alone in the house the first few weeks after the surgery.

You have Ralph to watch over you but is there no family in the area to sit with you a bit when you come home?

Roger:

I'd suggest you call your physician and inquire as to home help. He may already be planning on giving you a visiting nurse daily, a physical therapist, etc. If the doctor assigns resources like these, insurance usually covers them.

However, I don't think you can specify you want a young, attractive, female nurse. So, you may end up with a big male nurse with bad breath and in need of a shower.

So, you may end up with a big male nurse with bad breadth and in need of a shower.
Well maybe he can teach the guy how to brew so his pipeline stays full while he recovers. :muahaha:

I have a daughter who will be in and out. But I will be alone in the house (with Ralph) for the bulk of the time.

Good luck to you, Gymrat! As others have said, the recovery is kind of a beeyotch, but you will be SO much better off in the long run. Hang in there, and I second the idea of having someone to come check up on you during your recovery, and brew beer for you.

it's always nice to have someone check on you...just in case you've fallen and can't reach your beer...
