Pre-chiller for sale

Post by Beer-lord »

I bought a pre-chiller a few years ago but only used it 4-5 times before I got a pump. It's been sitting in the brew closet for a bit more than a year. So, I'm ditching it as I have a space problem. It's perfect for stove brews as well as a pre-chiller. I paid $49 from ABH and want $20 plus shipping to anywhere in the continental US. I was going to ask if anyone was interested in my brew club but I'm still getting to know those folks and I like the guys here more.

If you drink 4 more homebrews, it'll magically level out.
Go ahead, I'll wait until you finish them................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................see what I mean?

Sure do. I meant to post it on craigslist but never got around to it.
It's yours if you want it.

What size is the copper tube? I brew indoors, so the garden hose setup wouldn't work, and a faucet adapter won't work on my faucet. I do have a pond pump though, so if it would hook up to that, I would be interested. Think this would work to cool down about 3 gallons?

I'm not home but I'm pretty sure it's 1/4". I used it a few times in 5 gallons as the only chiller and it works but takes longer with psalm tap water. It did work great with my other chiller in tandem.
I think 3 gallons would be no problem at all, and add a pump and you'd be in good shape.

Ok. When I get home I will will check on that pond pump. I am pretty confident that it will match up with 1/4" tube, and maybe bigger, and I think it will pump water through a chiller. My thought was to take the pump and put it in one sink with a big bag of ice and water, and pump ice water through a chiller. Unless there is a flaw in my plan, I think that would work.

Yes. In fact I was thinking about making a trade with it at my LHBS on my next visit.
Let me know if you are interested.

Well, you're not for from me at all. I ship from Metairie so it's only 1 day to you. If your zip code is 71459, then we're looking at $11.63.
Send me a private message with your shipping info and I can ship it on Monday when I get back to work.

EDIT: Actually, I figured shipping wrong, it's $9.63. Sorry.
