Re: What are you drinking?
Had a Founders All Day IPA tonight with dinner on my last night in NY. Super busy few days, no downtime. Last night I managed to have an Ithica Flower Power IPA. Both are good but the All Day was better. Even it wasn't as good as some of my options at home for session IPAs but this was definitely good - just not great IMO.
Or maybe it is and I'm just really tired, burned out and want to go home.

Re: What are you drinking?
I bought a six pack each of Old Chub and Anchor Steam to do some side by side taste testing with the Wee Heavy and Cali Common I brewed.

I'm drinking a Mr Beer Pear Cider that I bottled in June of 2013. I've had 6 of them in the fridge for who knows how long. It's surprisingly tasty. It actually tastes like pear. I remember drinking these a long time ago and they didn't taste anything like pear back then. Too bad it took over two years.

I'm sipping some Stupid Easy Cider that I kegged last week. Not to shabby for how easy this was.

Re: What are you drinking?
I have not touched one of these for quite a while.
This evening I am having a 10 month old bottle of my "Hopped Crystal Malt Mead".
It is actually getting pretty nice now. All the flavors are mellow (nothing sharp). Perfect for when you want a weird malty kinda wine thing. There is some hop bitterness and flavor hiding in it as well. I bottled it still.

I had cold steeped the extra dark English crystal (1 lb) for 12 hours. After removing the grain (in a bag) I brought the temp up to 170, removed the pot from the heat and added 1/2 oz of my EKG hops. I let this sit for 30 minutes. This is supposed to act like a FWH. After the 30 minutes I brought the liquid up to a boil and boiled for 1 HR. I added the second half of the EKG at 5 minutes. I added 5ish lbs of honey and water until I got in the neighborhood of a good OG. I wound up with an 18 brix (1.075).
Fermented with EC-1118. Oak cubes added in secondary. ABV 9.8
Almost forgot to add this older pic of it:

Re: What are you drinking?
Yesterday, my buddy and I had the honor of being the FIRST and SECOND customers of a new brewery and taproom that finally opened about 2 miles from home.
This was a soft opening and we walked right in when they opened the doors and had a pale ale and an IPA.
The beer is good, the place is dog friendly with no tvs, and the people are local and inviting. I see many evenings being spent here.

Yazoo Bells Bend Preservation Ale... the annual fundraiser for the Bells Bend Farm community, fresh hopped with hops grown at the farm. Due to the wife's surgery, this was the first year i didn't participate in the hop pick. Nicely done beer. ..

Re: What are you drinking?
Friends came over and we tried both versions of my Oktoberfest. It is OK (first lager), but nothing worth the effort and cost as compared to my ales. Should have done S05 side by side with it.
