New Addition - LCC (Little Clear Conical)

Post by brewnewb »

I ponied up and bought a Brew Demon Cider Kit.

I now have their conical at my disposal. Looking forward to using it this week!

You can use for beer, just keep your wort in the dark and covered with a towel or old dark tshirt. UV light reacting with the hop oils will skunk it even while it is fermenting.

Roger that Steve.

I have a dark basement area to ferment in. I actually decided on the clear VS brown because I like to "peek" at the action!

That looks good, you'll be able to see the beer fermenting even better. Like you were using one of those glass fermenters. That's the main thing I like about using my 1 Gallon jug glass fermenters, being able to see it. Actually that's probably the only thing as they're a little harder to clean and only containing just over a Gallon, that doesn't leave much room for expansion and they definitely need the blow off hoses that I put on them. One Irish Ale I did a couple of weeks ago, it's fermentation was so active I had to empty the blow-off jar twice due it filling up the jar.

I had a can of MrBeer Octoberfest begging to get used. I know some of us are angry at MB but that 30 minute start to finish 2.5 gallon batch is a quick fix to play with a new toy.

I hope to take a pic tomorrow of the "fermenting action".

Honestly, I'd rate most of my beers as GE (good enough). I really enjoy putzing around and playing with all these gadgets in my basement.

Maybe that is the best part of the hobby?

Hell yeah it is. And I love my glass carboys just so I can see the action.

Took my first peek tonight. I even got LCC his own t shirt to keep any possible light out. The funny thing is that the neck of the t shirt fits perfect around the lid.

Just kegged this batch today. It's on standby waiting for my Stupid Easy Cider keg to get kicked off (shoudl be tonight)

Now it needs to be refilled. I'm looking at some Irish Red extract recipes ...

If you got it a pair of shorts I'd bet the zipper would work well when you wanted to access the spigot.

Here she is topless showing off her Irish Red. Since "she" has a spigot, should she be a he? Maybe I'll name her / him Jenner?
