RIP Paul Wicksteed

Post by Beer-lord »

If there are any brewtubers in the borg, you likely know Paul Wicksteed. Paul was from New Zealand and kind of like a do it yourself, beer scientist who made much of his equipment and shared his ideas. I've been a subscriber to his channel for a year or so and learned a lot from him.
I don't know what took him so early but it was obviously sudden since I viewed his 'Homebrew Wednesday' video last week.
His channel is still up for now: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrswEr ... qiq9DY6quw

Rest in peace my brewing brother!

Don't know of him myself BL but the loss of any brew guru is a sad day.

R.I.P. SIR and  to you in that brew pub in the sky and for sharing your knowledge I say :urock:

I nominate him an honorary member of the :borg:

That is sad.

I agree with Birdie. The loss of a brewing guru is cause for lamentation. And I second her nomination of him as an honorary :borg: member.

There are a number of youtube salutes to Paul and it's obvious he's had a tremendous influence on home brewers. I don't know what happened to him but did find out that he was only 44! Damn, that's way too young to be taken from loved ones.
Today being 'Homebrew Wednesday' for youtubers, I'm sure they'll be endless more salutes and toasts. I know one person is waiting until he can hold it together to post his thoughts. He told me it's just too raw.

Today was the International brew day in honor Paul and there have been dozens of people literally around the world brewing at the exact same time in Paul's honor. What a tribute. It's truly touching because many of these guys may be internet friends but many don't know each other and they all came together for one purpose. To brew beer to honor a fellow homebrewer.
As someone who's met wonderful, life long friends on this forum and other forums, I can personally understand what this is like. The world is small and since I'm old, I can truly say that homebrewers are the friendliest, kindest, most honest people I've met.
