Back in the Black
The owner of my LHBS is a knowledgeable brewer, but a lackadaisical business man. Now in his defense he's had open heart surgery and seems to go thru life with the Alfred E Newman attitude of "What , me worry?" and hires folks like Paul, and now me, to do the worrying. Between Paul's last day and my first, he made 2 orders and paid none. By the time I got my hands on the books and found this out I needed to make a third order. That set me up so I had to make a payment, then make an order. Keeping the orders small as possible, so that a double payment in December is possible. Well as of now the only thing the shop owes is the order I received last week. Got 2/3rds of that already and , for my shop, 3 more business days till Christmas.

Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain

Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: Back in the Black
Thanks y'all, and no Birds the shop's only open 4 days a week (wens-sat) 11 to 6. I only put in another days worth of time spread out over the whole week. The stress just went right out of my job.

Re: Back in the Black
And once caught up, it is easier to stay caught up. I would rather do a little bookkeeping everyday than spend a whole day catching up. Good job to you if your boss hasn't told you yet. I think a successful business is only as good as it's bookkeeping.
