You could always pour the Schaefer beer out and put your beer in the can. :)

I'd rather drink my beer. And as far as I can tell, the canned beer doesn't actually flavor the chicken all that much; it just provides some steam to tenderize the bird from the inside. I put some of whatever ingredients I used to rub the chicken inside the can, too, so it's providing that flavor. But really none from the beer.

What are you Smokin', Grillin' or Cookin'?

Post by berryman »

It was almost 70 degs here today in western NY, almost unheard of for Feb. made me want to cook something outdoors and been wanting to try the electric smoker out the wife got me for Christmas. So I did some ribs. I use the same basic rub at the start, but some I wrap in BBQ sauce (sweet baby Rays) and some just in apple juice and the leftover rub. I guess a electric smoker isn’t so bad after allImageImage
They weren’t done yet at the time of the second picture, I just un-wrapped and cooked about a hour more.

Pretty cool. I was actually considering uncovering the grill today too. Instead I kegged a batch and took a nap.

I never thought I would like a electric smoker, I have 2 charcoal/wood smokers, but this worked real well and less babysitting. Between this and my all electric brewing the power company will love me when I pay the bill.

I've been enjoying the heck out of my small Traeger smoker. Use it almost every weekend. Did 3 chickens Saturday.
Those ribs look awesome.

Them look really good even though I am quite full right now. I make something similar that Blackduck gave me the recipe for we call turtle Eggs.

Got an 11 lb pork butt that's been on the smoker since 8:30 last night...
expect it will take about 16 -20 hours to finish.

Found a cool little device called Tip Top Temperature Regulator.
It's holding the Akorn at 225-235 and has all night long...
it's a breeze to use and takes alot of the headache out of long cooks! :)

That is very cool. (The device, not the temp, and no pun intended)
I use an Akorn, thanks for the tip.
