Well, I have sin'd, badly. I fear I have killed billions of those wonderful yeastie buddies of mine. I placed two gallon jugs of yeast I was washing on the porch that was keeping temps around 36-38 degrees. Saw this morning the gauge was reading 27 degrees, oh poop... the water in both jugs is froze solid, not slushy but solid. I picked them up and did see some very slight movement on the bottom with *some* of the yeast sloshing around. Brought them inside and with a tear in me eye, sat them on the counter to warm up. I hope they survived the frigid bath I gave them... oh the shame, the shame..... I have sinned.....

Or you have just weeded out the weakest yeast that had no business fermenting your beer to begin with. People slant and freeze yeast on a regular basis, though they use a different method.

So, in what I'm calling "The tubber incident of 2015", I removed a dime size piece of the tip of my left thumb cutting sweet potatoes last night.
Work was fun today as an auto mechanic, buttons and shoe laces are my nemeses.

Having grown up as a walking advertisement for Bandaids and mercurochrome along with pulling my own stitches, I just cuss and go on.

Yikes man. I bet that bled for a long time. That had to hurt.

I did it around 7, it was still bleeding at 10 when I went upstairs to bed. Knew that wouldn't work, so I took two bread tie wraps, twisted them to make it longer, stuck a small ziplock bag over my thumb, secured with the elongated tie and went to bed. Like I said, been patching myself up all my life. I'm sure it will still be growing in by Nashville.

I've not heard about mercurochrome in decades. You might be older than you look (for a naked cat).

I'm having kind of a rough days I was working around the house as I stepped off the porch my left foot didn't hit the step square and with a familiar crunch, more felt than heard, I bent my foot... it's explained in the first few minutes of the following;

I've always figured that if I haven't bled a little through the course of a shift at work then I didn't work hard enough. So sometime I'll just poke one of my fingers with a piece of rusty wire so I don't feel so guilty on the drive home.

Yeah, that is ancient stuff.

This summer I was cleaning out tons (literally) of stuff from my in-laws house and had to cut up some stuff so the trash guys would take it. Cutting a big piece of thick rubbery/plastic and the circular saw was building up a bunch of melted stuff. I let switch go, it was slowing, but unlike my newer saw that stops quickly this ancient saw took forever to wind down. As I reached for the plastic my glove got caught and drawn in, and cut pretty deeply into my finger across the nail. Bled off and on for days, but ended up healing ok. Just don't let any ink get in the wound...

I stopped counting when I surpassed 40 hours under the tattoo needle. I think when I get cut a little ink leaks out.

And ouch, injuries that involve the finger nail are no fun. I burn a hole in one of mine a few times a year to relieve the pressure from smashing them.

In my line of work, any time the skin is broken is a huge hazard, especially on the hands. That being said, I've bumped my head so often, I bet if I shaved my head, it would reveal a lumpy, misshapen pate full of dents and scars. One advantage of having a vigorous (albeit rapidly graying) head of hair.

I keep walking into things and getting scars that way. I think it's the beer.
