Here I am. My job situation got very stressful and my brewing took a hit. Then my dad died, then my favorite uncle died, and my migraines became nearly daily. I'm still grieving, but I'm in a much better job now and my migraines seem to be back under control. I've got a starter going for a Belgian Tripel I intend to put down tomorrow. Only my second brew this year. I'm not sure the starter's going anywhere - WLP 3787 x 24 hours and not much to see. I may end up using a dry yeast tomorrow to be safe.

I can only offer my sympathies as well. Here's to a better 2019 for you
In terms of migraines, I'm glad to hear that they've reduced for you a bit. I suffer as well.
I wasn't the right candidate for this
new drug/treatment, but thought I would pass it along in case you haven't yet heard about it.
Best wishes.

FWIW! Same situation this past weekend, got a starter of San Diego Super yeast (packaged in Oct 2017) going on Saturday, brewed Sunday still had no sign that the starter took off at all, no krausen no chunky yeasties, nothing. Couldn't get to LHBS and my local was closed on Monday. Saved by HBC buddy and fellow Borgie he had 05 he brought to me Monday, I shut down the stir plate last nite, got up this morning and had a nice thick layer of yeast in the bottom of the flask. It is in the fridge and will go into a sanitized mason jar and built up again for a future brew.

Great to hear from you, Alb. I haven't been here much due to my wife's health issues, thankfully now better. Hope you have a better 2019!

After the loss this year of several old friends and a parent I'm more than happy to turn the page on 2018. Of course, this year also had many happier memories. But the hurt and pain of losing a loved one are always foremost in mind. Here's to a healthy and happy 2019 for us all!
