THIS is great advice for all of us. I hate politics and hate politicians more. I won't go into this anymore because this is a beer board but..........I hate this silly season.

I feel your pain. Every time I want to brew it seems that I end up in the hospital!

I can only imagine how much more you'd be bringing if you had a van.
Enjoy and be safe!

All I really needed to bring for serving tomorrow, 1/2 barrel North Port Pils, and 5 gals. each of Brown Ale and a Pale Ale. Now it's off to some brewery or brewpub nearby here in Plymouth, but may head over to Ann Arbor for Jolly Pumpkin and a couple others in that area!

Here are a couple of pictures I managed to get hold of from the event Saturday night. Josh Cribbs was a great guest, and the auction and raffle proceeds benefited The Penrickton Center For Blind Children.

Probably passed out at some club!!!! Or waiting on the unemployment office to open tomorrow!
Friday we did hit Jolly Pumpkin, Grizzly Peak, Arbor Brewing for flights. Had a couple very good beers at JP, La Roja a Flanders Red was very good and GP had a traditional Burton Ale yum, Arbors were ok nothing to right home about though. On the way back stopped at a place called CJ's in the hockey complex in Plymouth they only have 4 of their own on the menu so that is what we had 5 oz pours of a Lager, an IPA, a Red, and a Stout. First 3 almost tasted like they were rushed to the tap extract beers, the stout was horrible minerally, thin, no malt, no roast disgusting and could not finish a 5 oz pour. Saturday afternoon was better @ Witches Hat Brewing and Ascension Brewing, flights at these two outshined all 4 from Friaday.

Just finished sorting entries for the Pacific NW regional National Homebrew Competition. Some 1300 bottles unpacked, sorted by category, then labeled with barcodes; three labels on each bottle. At Pyramid Brewing in Seattle. Some 22 people from our Homebrew club showed up for this effort. This is always a good reminder when submitting entries for a competition; please follow the instructions. Only 1 broken bottle found in the entire sort!

Last Saturday I was going to brew a Czech Pilsner. I had all the ingredients, even ground up the grain the night before. I wake up in the morning, start getting all my equipment ready, and grab my scale to measure the minuscule amounts of water treatments and realized that my scale didn't register small enough. So I start looking online for a scale, found one that measures down to .1 gram, perfect. So I thought. Everyone that carried it, didn't carry it in the store, I had to order it online. I thought I would run to Staples to see if they just happened to have one in stock. I walked in and asked the guy where the scales were, he pointed me to a few they had, of course they didn't have what I was looking for. He asked me exactly what I was looking for so I explained to him that it was a high precision scale that would weigh down to .1 gram. He looked at me as if to say.....are you a crack dealer. Before he could get anything out of his mouth, I told him what I was using it for. He still had that look on his face. I ordered the scale and would wait for it to come in. Yesterday I stopped at the store to pick it up. The same guy helped me out. He went back into the office to get the box and brought it up. We opened it up to check to make sure it was what I was looking for. Sure enough it was. He looked at me and asked...."what did you say you were using this for" in a very inquisitive tone. Without a beat, I answered....CRACK!!!!. His jaw dropped, it was hilarious. I quickly laughed and told him I was kidding and explained again that it was for water treatments. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of the guys face....it was priceless!!!
