My desktop PC is finally back up and running.
About a week ago I did a shut down after installing some software and the PC never started again.
I replaced the CMOS battery and no go.
I swapped the power cord and no go.
Checked the power supply with a borrowed tester. The power supply would turn on for a moment and then off.
I upgraded from a 750 watt to a 1000 watt with modular cables.
Everything is fine after replacing it.

Well this turned out to be a good day. I had 2 LHBS in my county both about 12 miles from me in opposite directions. The one closed to re-model and never re-opened. The other is a good one too but never know their hours or days. I was told there was a new one in Lakewood, NY, (where Southern Tier brewery is) so I went there today. The owner name sounded familiar but had never meant the guy. Come to find out he just lives a mile or so from me on another road that I travel a lot and have seen hops growing there. He knows my wife as she is the town clerk and he was on the zoning board for awhile. he had 4 beers on tap and I sampled them all and were good. We had a nice talk and was there about 2 hours. Then I remembered seeing his name on beer at the county fair where I enter mine sometimes. He showed me all his equipment, uses a 3 tier 10 gal. system. I bought some stuff, but told him I probably wouldn't make any major purchases but will buy grain and such there. He doesn't have the turn over for me to by liquid yeast there but the dry is good and got some for some wine I am going to make in the next couple days. I meant a new brewing friend.

I had to go with a blow-off on the strawberry wine. It was in a open bucket (covered with a towel) for open fermentation for 8 days. I put it in a Carboy tonight and I know I didn’t leave much headspace but figured it should have slowed down enough. Wrong, it started plugging up the S airlock in 15-20 mins. This is heavy, 24 lbls Strawberries 12 lbs sugar and yeast energizer.

My front yard looks like a crime scene, when I rinsed out the bucket and pulp.

What yeast did you use? Evetime I've done anything "winey" even with nutrients, the yeast/fermentation has been mellow, slow and steady like, not big krausen. I usually use something like Epernay. Never turned into a crime scene either LOL.

I always dump my beer trub on the front lawn, but this looks scary, but it is still snowing and hopefully will be covered by morning before the neighbours see it and call it in. LOL

I have brought this up before. Trying to find some Red X, Both my LHBS have tried to find it for me but said their suppliers don't have it. Awhile back I asked this on here and BigPapaG (BTW haven't heard from him in awhile) Said his LHBS had it in Buffalo, NY which is about 50 miles north of me, But I really dislike driving in Buffalo and only go there when really needed. The 3 on-line suppliers that I go to don't have it either, Midwest, Morebeer and Williams. Who else might have it I could order on-line?

Northern Brewer and Farmhouse Brewing both carry Red X.

I think farmhouse is cheaper for the malt itself, but that would be depending on how much you buy + shipping, Northern has free shipping at a relatively low price these days that sometimes makes up for their higher prices.

TY Mash, I have never bought from either but always hear good things on here about Farmhouse and I thought Northern is the same as Midwest, but they don't have it (Midwest). I am thinking of a mild red without a lot of hop presence but good malt and some good red color. Not sure if can use as a base malt or a 2 row mix.

Thanks for asking about the Red X berryman.
I was trying to decide on a first brew for my new Mash & Boil.
Just ordered Red X, EKG, S04 from Farmhouse.

I also just ordered some from farmhouse too, not sure where I am going on this yet, but been wanting to try it. I think I will go with s-04 also.

I'm thinking Irish Red sort of thing. Since it's winter I'll aim for 7ish ABV with the grain (100% Red X) and 20-25 IBU with a FWH of EKG.

I was thinking in the 5.5 - 6.5 range and around them IBU's. I get around 1.060 OG with 11 lbs or so with most grains on 5.5 Gal. in the fermenter. I haven't really thought to much on a recipe yet but just wanted to try that malt. Post what you might thinking and will see how close that is to what I am thinking....
