Hey Guys just a quick update, I had my surgery nearly a week ago, The procedure went very well according to the doctor and the numbness and pain from before the surgery was gone almost immediately, Of course then there is the pain of the surgery itself, which has been pretty rough, the day of and the day after were not too bad, however man the 4-5 days after that were real rough, I was basically unable to eat or sleep and even drinking water was painful, I also developed a fever which I guess is somewhat common but met with the doctor anyways, turns out I was just having withdrawals from the nerve pain medicine I was on, that I stopped since that went away.
Anyways I am currently doing much better, I am able to eat, I have been getting OK sleep(I wake up every time I move though) and the pain is bearable, I am off all the pain meds except the nerve one that i need to wean off of. So hopefully a few more weeks and I should be back to work and hopefully I can start brewing again by February.
Thanks for all the kinds words, this has been a long slow process, but at least now I seem to be getting better and not worse!

Glad to hear it went good for you and don't be in any kind of hurry to get back to physical activity, follow your Doctors orders for limitations.

Glad the surgery went well Stinkfist.
It's a drag the pain medicine hooked you so fast. An opiate?

Nope not an opiate, I had zero issues stopping the opiates, this was a nerve pain medication called gabapentin, it binds with receptors, my wife says the GABA receptors control a bunch of things so just stopping it can have withdrawal like symptoms.
Thanks everyone, I am def taking it easy for at least a couple more weeks.

Keep getting better, Stink. One day at a time. Slow and steady and all those other sayings
Seriously, take it slow.

WOW!!!!! Sorry for being so late. I would like to tell you what I was told by several neurosurgeons. Never have back surgery to relieve pain. Sixty percent (60%) who have back surgery end up having more pain. However their mobility has increased. Chiropractors are never a good option. They rely on X-rays which do not show soft tissue damage.
