I'm a newbee level 1. Looking for help, purchased a brew demon signature kit. Upgrades include airgap, 12oz. Bottles, caps, and capper. I also have 2 (1) gallon carboys with airgaps, hydrometer, strainrs, spoons. These are from the days of making honey apple/blueberry cider. So a little knowledge but just enough
to start.

Whatever your level of experience doesn't determine the technique. In other words, a Level 4 brewer may be paired with a Level 3 brewer (or even another Level 4), and you may wind up doing a DME/steep/hop boil recipe. Or a Level 1 brewer may get schooled and make the jump to Partial Mash. The point is, it's up to you and your partner how you want to brew.
Similarly, what you want to brew (Porter, Kolsch, Cream Ale, Bock) is up to you and your partner to work out. I'm not polling which recipes people want to do and then doing the pairings. You'll have to work that out between the two of you. Hopefully, it won't result in a "pistols at dawn" scenario, but we're all adults, and we can work these things out.
The best advice I can give is to approach the RCE as if you and your partner are blank slates. Come into it with no preconceived notions or expectations (and no demands), and you may be very pleasantly surprised by what comes out of the bottle in a couple months.Well said.

+1! The RCE is a great chance to build your skills regardless of your level. Having said "I'm in" as a level 4, I know I will learn things regardless of who I partner with.

Back from ATL (missed connecting with Jeff and Jim - sorry guys was a bit more hectic than usual being only down for 4 days this time) and definitely interested in this.
I am somewhere between a 3 and 4. I do mostly LBK sized batches on stovetop (is that BIAB or All grain mini batches) and am still fumbling my way around Beer Smith though maybe going back and entering info from my first 50 or so batches from QBrew will help me really "get it".

that's ok Jeff goodness knows i understand gettin' busy. didn't get to cook this weekend, instead i had working on mine and swmbo's vehicles. weren't hard jobs, but shade treein' in the heat gets to me anymore.

Alright! After careful consideration, I have decided that I am in! Even with the possibility I may never brew the beer I create with my partner, the experience will be invaluable. So, now to decide which level I am. Most of my brews lately have been Steeped grains and DME with hop boils, but I have some AG and Partial Mash experience as well. So, level 2 or level 3, can't decide which one I am!

Hey Dave and also LM I noticed that we got a lot of new members ( Level One and Two) who registered but haven't been posting at all since they signed up and the RCE has a lot of level fours.
Is there a way to e-mail the new guys or something and let them know that time is running out to join?

Your heart is in the right place, Birdie (right between your lungs), but I would discourage this.
If someone feels intimidated, or not ready, then that's their prerogative. Also, in the past, people have signed up and then sort of fallen off the map, which isn't fair to their partners, and it seems to me brewers with a certain level of experience would be more likely to stick with it. Someone who doesn't have his sea legs just yet might let his enthusiasm overtake his confidence, and then have misgivings. That, or perhaps they come to realize this isn't the hobby for them, after the initial rush. I don't know, exactly, but as much as I want a lot of people to sign up, I'd much rather have a smaller group that was made up of people committed to the idea.
