Great news, Pockets! Or... Is it too soon to be calling you "One Pocket"?

Great news Pocket! A friend of mine had the same thing right after college. All went well after the removal, and 20+ years later nothing else ever showed up (except for 2 kids, so be careful...). Make sure to keep those 6 month appts with the Doc, and request the nurses do a thorough "pre-exam" for you!

Well, I obviously survived "Snowmagedon". But I do have to say that in the fifty + years that I've lived in this state that last night's storm had to be one of the worst I've ever been through (snow-wise).

LOML and I went out around 7:30 to give a check on the roads. We both work the same shift at the same place and we were suppose to go in to work last night and I wanted to get an idea of what we might be getting into. We weren't going to go far. Just a few miles down the four lane highway that takes us in to work.

About an hour later we had traveled three miles out of town and three miles back. We were both frazzled and nervous wrecks. There were several times I had to stop because I literally could not see beyond the windshield and most of the time the only way I could tell that I was going off the road was when the Jeep started leaning one way or the other. In the three mile route there were more than a dozen cars and a couple of semis in the ditches and median. All but one of the cars that still had anyone in them had help coming (so they said) and we did end up giving one guy a ride into town. He said he was driving along at about five MPH and the road disappeared and the next thing he knew he was in the ditch. I went around to the back of the Jeep to flop the seat down (it's a two-door Wrangler and it was like stand in front of the business end of a sandblaster.

The State Patrol ended up closing every highway in the south-central part of the State and I got an extended week-end from work. Although I had to spend the last three hours digging my driveway out. (The old fashioned way with a "sweat powered snow thrower".)

Hmm, strange storm that. We usually get the same storm as y'all the day before. We got nuttin, we are getting some strong winds today but that's it. Have a few brews, it will replenish all that water you sweat'd out.

I believe this one came to us via Nebraska/Iowa.

we had a thunderstorm move thru very early this AM we had a major clap of thunder and lost the modem and router. just got back on line a few min. ago.

We run surge protectors on our equipment, do you use them?

One day of rain and three straight days 40 deg or more finally has drive totally clear of snow and able to get into the other car to charge the battery. This weather is making me itch to get the smokers fired up, between the electric and charcoal can do aprox 50-60 lbs of meat!

Steve, you definitely fit right into the Borg, there is a lot of us and maybe even a majority that are into smoking meat. Just been too cold here in western NY for me to do any outdoor cooking this winter, I can't wait to get my smoker fired up.

I fired up da smoker once this winter, was a fight to keep it at the right temps. I can't wait to start grilling/smoking. I have round 40-45 lbs of venison sausage just begging to get used up.

Nice FIT, last time I had the smoker going was around the end of Dec. did 20 lbs of brisket for Toys For Tots Tailgate at the Browns-Bears game, our group hosted 100+ Marines that were collecting toys. There was leftovers of just about every dish others brought, the brisket disappeared very quickly!

my pineapple plant outside is flowering in the center. in a few months, I should be able to harvest a tasty treat

Guess what, I'm going to be brewing 2 batches of straight up MB this morning, I haven't done that in a long time. A guy I work with got a MB kit for Christmas and he's all worried about brewing it and I told him he could bring it up to my place and I'd help him do it. I don't even know what he has except he has 2, so I said we might as well do both and he can use one of my LBK's. I hope he doesn't get disappointed with the results, he is use to sampling my beer.

He needs to get the same Brews, and bring them over at the end of this fermentation, and then you can add additional grains to show him how to improve it.
