Re: Northern California
Good to see you again Brewing Brother. You may remember me from the Sacramento Area forum thread: home in Shingle Springs, work in Folsom.
Have you seen that Brewmeister is having a local competition, stouts porters & IPAs, entries due at the end of January? My normal winter brews will be lager-like, but hopefully this weekend I will get small batches of stout and porter going.
On another front, I've been systematically going through samples of many styles, to broaden my tasting knowledge. Shopping on my way home tonight finished most of to-try list, but no luck so far in finding Biere de Garde. Any ideas where to look?

Good to hear from you Foothiller!
The only Biere de Garde I can find locally is the Castelain Blond in a 750ml bottle. It's over at Total Wine in Roseville. It looks like they do have several more varieties and sizes that can be ordered however.
I didn't know about the contest, but it just so happens I have a lovely Honey Porter I bottled last month that should be a good entry. I'll check in with them when I pick up ingredients next week.
Thanks for the heads up and Happy Thanksgiving!
