Anyone ever had this beer? I've searched all over for a recipe and they're all over the place with ingredients and I have not idea which ones are close. As an example, some show rye malt, others show wheat malt, some even show flaked corn. Most show low IBU's that aren't really an IPA so I am guessing this is basically a hoppy pale ale or sorts.
The one I've seen mentioned more than others is pretty much like this one but in the same thread on the forum, there are 6 others that take away one malt and substitute with another. Might just be easier for me to make up my own dang recipe.

I am not sure what they used. But yours look really good to me, send me one of those when it done!
Re: Founders All Day IPA
Never had it....but I saw it at the store the other day. Maybe I'll go get a six pack and check it out. I don't get why it would have flaked oats and/or flaked corn in it. Maybe it's just to give it a little something to help balance the hops out without adding much to it???

Re: Founders All Day IPA
I may just re-do the Breakwater IPA I enjoyed last year....OG 1.049, quick and easy. Not an IPA but tasted like one. One you could drink all day, every day. Really, most of these beers just consist of about 90% base malt and 10% crystal with small amounts of 60, 30 10 and 0 additions of hops of your choice. But, I would dry hop them a bit more.
I see Austin Homebrewers sells the All Day IPA kit. Guess I could wait until my stock is low and buy the kit and try it out to see what there's is like. 2 people I've read said they think its close.

Re: Founders All Day IPA
I've done a bit of research on this as SWMBO loves this beer (she just finished off a 6er yesterday) and other sessions. I have been trying to find a recipe as I find it silly that a low ABV IPA goes for basically the same price as a high ABV. I have not made this yet but the guy who developed this went thru a lot of itterations to come up with this. Once I get the new mash tun I plan on trying this. May try the extract version if the weather breaks as have been jonesing to brew.
Updated Recipe SG=1.048 @75% Efficiency FG=1.012 SRM=6 IBU=43.2 using Rager ABV=4.8%
6lb 15oz Briess 2-row Pale (78%)
1lb 2oz Briess Caramel 20L (13%)
4oz Briess Red Wheat Malt (3%)
4oz Flaked Oats (3%)
4oz Flaked Maize (Corn) (3%)
Mash at a low temp like 148 for 1 hour.
I don't really get the point of using the flaked corn and the flaked oats at the same time. The corn thins the beer and lightens the mouthfeel while the oats thicken the beer and makes the mouthfeel more viscous. Whatever, still a good beer when its fresh. If you want to, double the flaked oats and corn to 8oz each and drop the 2-row to 6lb 7oz.
Hop Schedule
0.25oz Simcoe 60 minutes
0.5oz Simcoe 30 minutes
0.25oz Amarillo 30 minutes
0.75oz Amarillo 8 minutes Dryhop
0.5oz Amarillo 7 days
0.5oz Simcoe 7 days
WLP001 California Ale
I am going to use a very small gypsum addition next time i brew this (literally 1/4 teaspoon for a 5 gallon batch) as I already have pretty good IPA/Pale Ale water. Just something to consider if you are interested.
Extract version does not include wheat or flaked adjuncts, but should still be relatively close. Use 2 cans of Briess CBW Golden Light Extract (1.5kg per can) and 6oz Briess 20L steeped at 150-160F for 30-60 minutes

Re: Founders All Day IPA
That's pretty damn close to what I show. I'm not into using corn only having used it twice and both times I wasn't elated. I didn't post it but 148 was what I showed they mashed at as well.
I'm going to wait until after the RCE to do this or my own version of a light IPA. It'll be perfect for spring and summer. Might even do 10 gallons worth and do some different yeast/dry hopping to see what happens.
