Hello World
Hi everyone, long time drunk, first time brewer.
Just got laid out on some equipment at Northern in West Allis, it's about 30 minutes down the road for me. Started my very first brew Sunday Feb 16, Chocolate Milk Stout, OG 1.043. So far so good, although temps are a tad cooler than I'd like, trying to bring the carboy temp up a bit but it's being stubborn about moving above 60 even though the room is 69. Hoping that won't effect things too much, just slow it down a little?
Going straight to keg, I'm a lazy SOB. Bought a couple cornies and a 5lb co2 bottle that I just found out I can get filled at a local liquor store for cheap. Yay.
Only problem I've had so far is the boil stained the front stainless steel piece on my new gas Whirlpool stove. I used PBW and rubbed and rubbed and got most of it out, but there's still some residue if anyone has a suggestion. Going to wet a cloth with PBW and let it sit on it over night to see if that does it.
A friend of mine posts here but I'm not sure I want to be associated with him since I haven't seen his posts here yet.
Browns fan, not one of the woe is me fans, they HAVE won a title in my lifetime, #brownsareeighttimechamps. Definitely in the wait and see mode, as you all know the recent history. Haslam has a lot to prove in the NFL, I suspect he probably will. We know he isn't taking crap from anyone, anywhere, that much we have learned about the man.
You wish JGo was on your team.
Anyhoo, should be fun learning this brewing thing, beer is good.

Welcome Insanitized.
Re: Hello World
Welcome aboard. The carboy will warm to room temp and above as it ferments. Don't let it get too warm. It might be staying cool on the floor, mine does, but 60 is a good ambient temp. Glad to have you here. Glad you're not a "woe is me" sports fan. We have those here too.

Re: Hello World
Thanks folks, I've been a cook for a long time so this brewing thing is really intriguing to me. Talk about slow cooking...
