By the way, 4oz is TOO MUCH Carapils for a MrB sized batch. I might have also overcarbed slightly, but every bottle had a very thick head, to the point I had to let it rest before I could fill a glass.
But this was very, very delicious. Sort of in between a pale ale and an amber. This batch went by way too fast.
Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.

I use about 4 oz of CaraFoam or CaraPils per five gallon batch most times, unless I'm using a lot of Crystal malts, in which case I back the dextrine malt down to 1-2 oz, and sometimes I use none at all.
Looks good BTW... Lots of Honey Malt there... You will taste it.

Yes I could taste it! And I liked it!

I always use 4 oz carapils in 2 - 3 gallon batches and usually 1/2 # in 5 - 6 gallon
EVERY time I use chocolate Malt I get that HUGE thick head and sometimes foam out of the bottle before you can get it poured
I agree that it's probably the choc malt rather than the 4 oz of Carapils.
I routinely use 1/4 of a pound (or 4 oz) of Carapils in 2-3 gallon brews and never have excessive foam.

So for darker beers I could just skip the carapils and use a small amount of choc malt?
