Beer Camp Double IPA
Opened the bomber I got yesterday and realized it's actually more than a bomber in size.....actually 24 oz instead of 22.....nice!
It pours with a nice, creamy white head. It's a bit lighter in color than I expected. The nose is semi tropical with some citrus as well.
It doesn't taste like a 8.5% double IPA.I don't really get any grapefruit like many have said and do notice a bit of orange but it's a very well balanced flavor with the bittering from front to back that stays even.
It's hard to believe this beer in this size was only $4.99. It's a good beer, not great but very good. There's nothing that would stop me from keeping a few in my fridge but they have all but disappeared.

Wow, I really wonder if I had a bad bottle. My smelled like skunk - nothing tropical or citrus in it at all.
I know tastes differ, but this sounds like a completely different beer than I tried.

Sounds like UV exposure Kealia.

I have a second bottle I got for RedBEERd so we'll see what he thinks when he drinks it.Kealia wrote:Wow, I really wonder if I had a bad bottle. My smelled like skunk - nothing tropical or citrus in it at all.

Don't get me wrong the nose wasn't 'in your face' but no way was this skunked at all.

I wanted the 12 pack but they're all gone here and I'm guessing it's too late now.

Oh, and I guess when you're a moderator you can open your own thread on a topic even though one already exists, huh? Like my thread wasn't good enough for you...
To clarify my original thoughts - I'm not sure the beer was 'skunked' in the sense that we think about UV exposure but I suppose it could have been. What I smelled was just so far from tropical or citrus that I assumed at that point that it was a new/experimental hop that I wasn't familiar with. In a way it almost reminded me of the cat pee smell that some people attribute to Citra (Simcoe??) but I've never smelled it from those hops.
I just know that me no likey. And honestly, it's been a while since I've not liked an IPA. It reminded me of when I couldn't stand IPAs- one sip and pass.

Re: Beer Camp Double IPA
I'm doubly sorry.....sorry you didn't like it and sorry I didn't post in the original thread. I thought the original thread was about the 12 pack of collaboration brews. My bad. Mia culpa!

We might be able to work something out in the near future when I get my stocks up. I do have some dark beer I could send you tomorrow.
