Latest Ghost

Post by RedBEERd »

This is going to be short and sweet.......

Parish Brewing (who brews Dr. Hoptagon) also does a Double IPA called Ghost in the Machine. They don't do it often due to the cost and the time it takes.. They've decided to change the recipe up somewhat but so far, no guesses as to what...what I can say besides the fact that it is seriously awesome is that it seems more pineapply and danker than it's previous version. And it seems they have a beer close to what maybe Stone's Enjoy By is.......

But the problem is that the day it was available in my area, it was gone in a day. So I only got 1 four pack.....and won't be available again until November. If you get a chance in the Louisiana area and see it, do yourself a favor.....or do me a favor and pick me up some. I'll make it worth your while. you can cut my lawn while I'm drinking it for ya.

Definitely better than the first one which was amazing. It's hard to believe this competes with all the big boys IPA's. It's closer to Stone than anything else but they aren't saying what hops they used this time.
I wish they'd make more because it was all gone by the time I got there. But someone was nice enough to share one with me.

Last time it was in champagne sized bottles right? Did they do that as a 4-pack or go to 12oz?

In any case, that was a very good beer.

It's good to have friends. Or family. Or just someone who will share a beer with you. Or all of the above. :clink:

I enjoyed The Ghost you sent. Good to see the are doing it again and changing it up.

Yep, they were in 750ml bottles last year and they've realized not everyone can share it and decided to go to 4 packs.
Since they were out when I went I had to settle for a 4 pack of Hoptimum. Sometimes you just have to wing it.

Oddly enough, it was cheaper than the 750's. At Whole Foods, the 750ml was about $13 for 25 oz and the 4 pack was only $12 but you basically got almost twice as much for a dollar more. I can't believe the larger bottles cost that much more....or maybe the new recipe was cheaper?

In any case, the fact that we couldn't get more than a 4 pk before it sold out and we're only 2 hrs away from the brewery has me puzzled. They say some of the bars have it draft but I don't know of any here. I'd say it's the best beer currently made in La for my taste.
