I'm trying to convert a heady topper recipe from BYO, and scaling it up from 5.5 gal (regular all grain to 7 gal biab, but beersmith is giving me very screwy results.
Here's the recipe
15 lbs British Pale Ale Malt
6 oz caravienne
1 lb turbinado (10 min)
.5 oz Magnum (60 min)
1 oz Simcoe (30)
1 oz Cascade (knockout)
.5 oz Apollo (knockout)
1 oz Simcoe (knockout)
1 oz centennial (knockout)
1 oz Columbus (knockout)
Dry hopping
1 oz chinook, 1 oz Apollo, 1 oz simcoe, 1.25 Centenial (secondary dry hop), 1.25 Simcoe (secondary dry hop)
When I convert to 7 gal BIAB- beersmith is adding about 7 lbs of British Pale ale malt, but decreasing the Caravienne malt and Turbinado. This makes absolutely no sense. Every other recipe I have scaled up or down usually scales them equally. I don't get why it's doing it this way.

Re: Beer smith-Heady Topper BIAB conversion???
Ok, before I was clicking to keep the original gravity, color and bitterness, and I believe that was what throwing things off. Unclicking it seems to increase the SRM a little but everything else seems to be right.

I have those BeerSmith moments from time to time too. Glad you got it figured out. That recipe looks tasty, think Ill load it in too.
