Interesting experience with this year's mead

Post by Foothiller »

To brag for a moment -- I have ended up being beer judge cooordinator for this year's El Dorado County Fair. To make a long story short, I had entered my Cranberry Melomel (fruit mead) in the homebrew beer competition but to avoid disqualifying myself from judging, I asked the fair to transfer it to the wine competition, in the "non-grape fruit wine" category. This being Northern California, you can guess that the level of wine competition is fairly high. Well, my mead ended up winning a Silver award in the wine competition.
