I decided it was time to harvest my hops. Last May I was given 3 rhyzomes from the brewer at Liberty Street Brewing, cascade nugget, & tettneng.
The tettneng produced the biggest harvest with almost 18oz.
The cascade & nugget didn't do as well with 8oz & 6.6oz respectively.

Pretty simple really. It's just a screen from an old storm door on saw horses. Above it have 2 fans blowing down on to the hops and below I put a couple of lamps to produce a small amount of heat. The picture above I don't have all the lamps placed yet. I leave them for about 3 days then I will vacuum pack them.
I'm thinking of doing a brown harvest ale to use these in.

You'll probably get around a half pound dried total. That's a great haul for the second year in the ground.
I've got 5 varieties and have two bines each for 4 of them (the second bine is a year or two younger and was started by sticking a bine in a pot of soil during the growing season). 4 of the 5 varieties have been in the ground 4 years (2 or three for the second one) and the 5th for 3.
I got a little more than a pound and a half (dried) this year.
I use most of mine as flavor/aroma hops, but generally try to do at least one batch with all homegrown hops just to do one that way. The AA% is a bit of a crapshoot, so I just use the default value from BeerSmith and hope it's close.

Actually this is the first year for these. My Cascade plant didn't make it through the winter and these were all new to me rhizomes in may of this year, So I'm pretty happy with what I got.

Unfortunately not, I've got a lot going on right now and can't find the time to fit in a brew session to take advantage of it.
