I know technically a Kolsch is a German Pale Ale. So is a Heff. I've been doing lagers since getting back to brewing and have been rolling around the idea of a German APA. German malts (Muinich/Pilsner), German yeast (Wyeast 1007 German Ale), and German hops (Perle, Tett, Spalt, etc). Just brew it up to APA guidelines.
Thoughts?

Düsseldorf Altbier is kind of what you are describing. If you look up recipes, ignore any with crystal malt, and look at the ones with Munich/Vienna/Pils/Pale only.
Sticke Altbier is a bit stronger and hopped higher, but also tends to have a bit of dark malt thrown in - but it doesn't have to.
Either one would be a good place to start.
FWIW, I've made an IPA using 1007 and 50/50 Munich/Pils blend. But I used American hops (Apollo). That beer was wicked, and I'm going to do it again, but maybe with some Mosiac added.

Sounds like a good plan Pudge. I bet it will make a tasty beer.
