Leffe doesn't claim to be a "Trappist" beer. That is the specific keyword that matters in this regard as far as meaning it's brewed with the supervision of monks. (and note this does not necessarily mean it's all brewed in the abbey! It's more like being called "kosher").

Abbey style is just that. Whether I like AB or not, Leffe is an abbey style beer. It is actually a solid (not great but solid) example of a Blonde. So... ???

I've got more issues with Stella being described as a Belgian beer then Leffe being described as an Abbey beer.

The only thing Belgian about Stella is that it's made there. At least sometimes.
