I remember this when it was a kickstarter program (or equivalent). I thought they'd never get to this point but here we are.

Re: Hmmm...
In the past I have found the level by opening the fridge door and seeing the condensation line. I tried that the other day and it didn't work. Maybe I didn't wait long enough, or maybe the weather was wrong.
It would be cool to monitor the level.

Re: Hmmm...
I remember seeing this before, too.
How long before we see a clear keg? I mean, they spend most of their time inside a kegerator or fridge, so why not?

Re: Hmmm...
This simply wouldn't work for my system. I've got a chest freezer, and can't look straight-on at my kegs, plus it's a really tight fit, so I don't know that I could trust the ball to slide unimpeded anyway.
I keep track of all my draws on a dry-erase board, and I know I'm going to get somewhere between 45 and 50 pints from a 5g keg, and somewhere between 20 and 25 or so from the keglet. That's accurate enough for me.

Re: Hmmm...
That whole sentence is me!!! But it usually kicks at an inopportune time, like when I want to fill a growler to take somewhere at get about 1/4 pint and it starts spitting!Beer-lord wrote:I'm half Italian and just pour till it kicks.

Re: Hmmm...
How do you propose that working? I can't see retro-fitting one of those on an existing keg without potentially compromising the integrity of the keg.Whamolagan wrote:Hows about a sight glass

Re: Hmmm...
What about these--still has all the same problems as the ball and magnet device, and I think you have to spray it with liquid and wipe it off to read it! But it does also give you the temp of your keg.
Still, pretty cool.
What about a bluetooth/wifi enabled scale? One under each keg, and you could have software calibrated to read the weight at full, and give you a percentage (with a programmed tare weight) of the keg as it empties.
Then you could hook up a TV/monitor with a display of what you have in your kegs and what % is left. In a 5 gallon keg, each % is roughly 6 fluid oz. Kind of expensive, but man would it look sweet!

Re: Hmmm...
Hey, I've got an idea!
How about just taking it as it comes? As I said above, I keep track of my draws, and have a pretty good idea of when a keg is about to kick it. If I want to save enough for a growler, or a special dinner, or something, I just lay off that tap. This just seems like a case of gilding the lily.

Corney kegs are rated to 130 psi. I think it would be difficult, if not impossible to add a sight glass without compromising that.Whamolagan wrote:Not sure, am not an engineer. I've got a couple of those strips. They report the temperature fairly accurately.Jon wrote:What about these--still has all the same problems as the ball and magnet device, and I think you have to spray it with liquid and wipe it off to read it! But it does also give you the temp of your keg.

When you're using them to show the level of the beer, they do a good job of reporting the temperature.
I'm glad I only had two kegs when I bought mine.
