So for my bday some people got me a giftcard to an online brewing supply store and I figured why not just kick in the rest and get a little keg.

So I picked up this 1.7 gallon keg, regulator, and a gas in setup. 2.5# CO2 Tank on the way and will pick up a picnic tap setup when I go fill the tank.

Why so small? Well, I live in a tiny apartment in SoCal and exclusively brew LBK sized batches with an occasional 1 gallon batch if I'm doing something really crazy. This keg is small enough to fit in my regular fridge or my temp controlled mini fridge (if I don't have something fermenting in there)
And it works out pretty nicely since if I do an IPA with a lot of hops or a big Stout/beer in general I get about 18-19 12 oz'ers (18 12oz beers is about 1.7 gallons if I'm correct in my math). Clean and easy beers (blondes, wheats, etc) get me 22 -23 bottles.

Better start reading up on kegging!

It's so cute! From how you describe your brewing I think you made the right choice. Please ask any kegging questions that cross your mind. We're glad to offer any advise we can.

Sounds good. I started kegging with a 2.5 gallon keg and a picnic tap.

Never mind, there it is.

Sweet! Like John, I started kegging with the 2.5 gallons too. I still do, have 6 of them. It's easier for me with arty-right-us to move around than the big 5 gallon kegs, which I also have. I prefer the small ones. You'll enjoy using it. Any questions, ask away.

Thanks everyone!
I'm sure I'll have some questions when I get all the parts in and get rolling.

It will be nice to be able to pull just half a pint or a couple glasses when I want them rather than being stuck in increments of 12oz at a time.

I thought about a 2.5 or even the 3 gallon kegs since they were the same price range and those would easily fit in my temp control mini fridge but ultimately went with this one. I took measurements and this one fits in the mini, the regular fridge, and in the cooler I already have. If its as awesome as I think it will be to keg, I'm sure I'll have a 2.5er in no time (gotta have a pipeline, right?)

I have three 5-gallon kegs and a 3 gallon keg. I call the smaller one a keglet. I guess what you have there is a "kegoleeny."

Enjoy the kegging experience. I still bottle some of my small batches, but kegging beats bottling every time.

Awwwe. it's so cute! I've never seen one that small. I have 2 2.5G and 1 2G myself along with my 5G. It's nice to have the flexibility that size provides.

You MUST take pics - or even better - a video of your first pour!
