Smoked Turkey and Ribs

Post by Dawg LB Steve »

Smoked a 12lb spatchcocked turkey Sunday, will never smoke poultry any other way now! Gave it a rub with All purpose BBQ seasoning from McCormick, the ribs went on the rack right above the turkey with the rib drippings basting the turkey the whole cook. Cooking temp was 275 and internal temp @ 162 and 4.5 hours later, pulled one of the best turkeys I have ever made off the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes tented in foil and separated the legs, thighs and wings off Tweety and started slicing the juiciest tastiest bird from the smoker yet. The bird and the ribs were done at the same time, love it when a plan comes together.
