Introductions

Post by JoeBSoBe »

I am not very good at this, but here goes. I am totally new to brewing, though I am a chemist by trade. I had played around with making mead before and that actually worked. So this new PicoBrew kickstarter finally shipped and I am trying to figure out all the tricks. I hope since I am familiar with lab procedures I should have a leg up on some people. Anyway, hello, and I am sure I'll need some help.

Welcome!

Brewing science gets "weird" as in you can analyze everything like crazy and "things everyone knows to be true" often turn out to be not so much so sometimes strange things happen. You know because it's non linear organic chemistry and then you are also introducing living organisms into the mix which then sometimes muck all up all your well laid plans. But yeah, as a chemist when you get into things like water treatment and the like (later) then you will be having loads of fun.

Meanwhile you will be making beer, and likely really good beer with your kit.

Lots of us here are always happy to help.
