Jim and I decided on a Maple Nut Brown Ale. After much discussion, we decided that the maple flavor will come from maple extract post fermentation. Each of us will do some experimenting beforehand to see what amount suits our individual taste, then add it at bottling/kegging. Since Jim will be doing BIAB and I will use my MT, our amounts may vary a bit, but here is the basic recipe from BeerSmith for my setup.
Recipe: RCE Maple Nut Brown Ale

1.0 pkg SafAle English Ale (DCL/Fermentis #S-04) Yeast 9
Mash Schedule: Single Infusion, Medium Body, Batch Sparge
Total Grain Weight: 11 lbs 8.0 oz
-------------------------------
With the flaked oats, I may add some rice hulls to help prevent a stuck sparge. Had a great time figuring this out with Jim, and we both learned a few things. Very excited about this brew, and hope to find the time to brew it up soon!

I was figuring to add at bottling
"Filled with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain
-- Quaintest thoughts -- Queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
Who cares how time advances?
I am drinking ale today."

Re: RCE - jimjohnson and gwcr
just fyi . i bottled last week and used 2 tsp pure maple extract in the water for the priming sugar and boiled it this should be the equivalent to 1/32 of a tsp per 12 oz bottle. the aroma from the bucket ws delicate but definitely there. don't trust the taste i got from the little remaning in the bucket. had a "raw" taste that i think will mellow in a few weeks

Glad to hear one of us has had time for a brew day... This one is next on my list. Hope to get to it in the next couple of weeks.
May need to give it a little extra time for the flavors to blend together and mellow.
