Make Money from your Beer Recipes, No Joke!
I know what your thinking, this is April Fools day and the BeerBorg is trying to pull one over on all us brewers, but I assure you that this is a real thing! One of the dreams of almost every home brewer is to go pro and make money from brewing beer. For most of us this is a pipe dream and never something that we would pursue. For others, they like where they are in their brewing and are quite happy to make beer that they, thier friends and relatives can enjoy and maybe even enter some competitions to get some hardware […]

One Last Summer Fling – Louie’s Oberon Clone
Here in Michigan one of the things that we look forward to in the spring besides the Detroit Tigers Opening Day is the Bell’s Brewery release of Oberon Ale. The return of this hazy, golden orange colored wheat beer is almost a state holiday and many people, non-brewers mostly cannot wait until this seasonal beer comes back to their local beer store. So, you want to start brewing your own beer?
For years I had always thought about how cool it would be to brew my own beer. To be able to reach into the refrigerator and grab a bottle of beer hand it to a friend or relative and say, “try this, I made it” and watch their faces as they take the first sips of the wonderful elixir that I created. But I always seemed to have something else to do, I was always “too busy” working or raising my family to get into brewing! The fact was I was afraid to start something that was either too complicated and/or too expensive and have it turn out like crap. Ahh, if I only knew then what I know now I could have been brewing beer and enjoying the hobby of brewing a lot sooner.

A Brewing Epiphany
So Beer Happens, the same way a beautiful sunrise or a flock of geese flying overhead happen. It’s part of the wonder and mystery of nature. No wonder the ancients assigned a deity to it.

Dr. Frankenbeer, I presume
Being a new brewer is exciting. You open the box, and there’s this fermenter, and cans of extract, and instructions, and you can make beer! I got my start with a Mr. Beer kit my wife got me for Christmas. I was as excited as a ten-year-old getting a puppy, and I couldn’t wait to brew my first batch. I would have creative control of the beer I drank. There were so many possibilities now; so much potential for creating custom beers right in my own kitchen. My first couple of batches were done with some slight modifications. Nothing major; […]
