Re: Cha-cha-changes! i.e. The Next Chapter

Good luck up there. Where should I put you on the map? Suttons Bay, Traverse City? Somewhere else? The movers didn't drop off your extra beer stuff, I just checked outside... Suttons Bay will be the ticket Rick. Thanks! Ha ha, kids were upset that I was moving the remaining 7 cases of beer an...

Re: Cha-cha-changes! i.e. The Next Chapter

Well, headed up Wednesday, closed Thursday, movers dropped off stuff on Friday, and Saturday was trying to put stuffs away. Past two days have been trying to get the business line switched over (idiots!) and now am down state to have a crown put on and am "enjoying" some free time in the d...

Re: Decisions, decisions....

Unless it's a bad idea to have it sitting on whatever residual yeast is carried through the siphon. This makes me question what I thought I knew about secondaries. I thought one of the reasons for a secondary was extended fermentation off the cake.(esp. high gravity brews) Well, unless you do a CO2...

Re: Dual Scale Refractometer $22!!

Keep in mind this appears to be a plastic bodied unit. I picked my metal one up with Brix scale only (doesnt bother me to convert) for $25 during Adventure's Black Friday sale. Seems to get decent enough reviews though. Appears this is the refractometer's version of the STC-1000 since at least on th...

Re: Shame on Bell's

Will have to see how much "fight" goes into this. Many companies will just challenge and not put much weight behind it so in the future if they need to they have paper evidence that they made a stand should the other company come back at them down the road and claim title. It is going to g...

Re: Atwater Brewery

I was making a Woody Hays joke(the OS fball coach I grew up with). He would not spend his/the team's money in "that state up north" a phrase he's credited with originating. Was funny how he made sure to fill up at the border as would not even buy gas here. Kept hoping they would run out o...

Re: Pics from Browns Backers event I brewed for.

Thanks was pretty cool to do, the event also raised over $5500.00 for the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, and Mack and Byner WANTED to hang with me and talk about beer, instead of me wanting to hang with them talking football! I was going to sling some poop about having a Browns part...

Re: A SAD DAY!!!!!

Bob, hope to see you around from time to time as in the next week or so I will be on the sparse side as well with the move, and although I dont have the health issues <YET> I will be way too busy learning the art of large scale wine making as well as land management. My posts will probably be little...

Since you are headed in the same direction I am, have you read The Lean Startup? http://www.amazon.com/The-Lean-Startup-Entrepreneurs-Continuous/dp/0307887898 It's a great read and it really hammers home this kind of "test early and often, and get ready to pivot" mindset we both seem fami...

Re: cooler mash tun without spigot hole?

Should be able to get some kind of ball valve installed at the cooler drain and have the manifold attached to this. Yup, you can find conversion kits all over, or just take it to Home Despot and find one that fits. I would be hesitant to use an aquarium pump for +160F fluids, and would have to thin...

Re: Any ETA on the 6G conical from BrewDemon?

Whew, I looked at the bottom dump spigot and thought the same thing so thanks for clarifying Leigh. I agree possibly some harness or way of locking the conical to the base would be a good idea. I do not cold crash but do ferment on the ground in my chamber and if the base and conical are not attache...
