Re: 1 down. 1 to go. Then 2 weeks.
My wife got her second dose 3/11. She had mild symptoms, but weekend bedrest took care of it. I haven't been able to schedule an appointment, but I'm very low-risk, so I don't mind waiting. Since my wife is an elementary school teacher, she was a priority. I'll keep on trying, but if others need it ...

Re: Jonesin' for smoke
Well, I've been known to smoke a couple racks on New Year's Day. And I've smoked a turkey for Thanksgiving, too. When it's bitter cold, I hold off, and we've had our share of very cold weather (plus a mess of snow all at once this year). My biggest problem is that my wife and son aren't really big f...

Jonesin' for smoke
I'm really dying to get some baby back ribs and getting my smoke on. Still a little early, though. It's been a little too chilly in my corner of New York to spend six hours fussing with a smoker. Soon, though.

Good to see you again, Dan.
I had meniscus surgery a year ago, October 2019. I didn't have a toddler to chase around, though.

Re: Small batch brewing
You call it a "Limited Edition" and jack the price way up.
It's just smart marketing.

Re: How much have you brewed in 2021?
I finally get to jump in on this. Last year I brewed 130 gallons (which is actually a butt!). This year I probably won't brew as much, since I am seriously cutting back on my consumption of all foodstuffs in an effort to lose weight. So less drinking beer means less need to brew beer. But I will be ...

Re: What will you be drinking to ring in 2021?
Beer-lord, we haven't stayed up till midnight in decades (at least, not voluntarily). In fact, we were discussing that we'll need to start watching our movies around 4:30 or so, so we don't doze off in the middle of the third one! We've never been night-owls, so we really have to force ourselves to ...

What will you be drinking to ring in 2021?
Happy New Year, Borg! I think we'll all be glad to tell 2020 to not let the screen door hit it on the way out. And everyone has their method of welcoming the new year (although some of us may be forced to modify our traditions somewhat this year). My family has its traditional Movie Night. We begin ...

What beer/brewing stuff did Santa bring you?
Well, Santa didn't bring me beer/brewing stuff, but my daughter and son-in-law did. Behold, the mighty Ale Horn! ale horn 1.jpg Genuine ox horn. I won't actually be drinking from it because A) it looks as though it holds more than 24 ounces, and I'm just a session drinker B) the handle seems a littl...

Re: Lager dilemma
Thank you. I kind of thought so, but it's nice to have the confirmation. I'll sock 'em away on the cellar slab in a black plastic garbage bag, like I do with my bottled ales. That will keep them a little lower than typical room temperature, even in summer.

Lager dilemma
Of course, these are the kids of problems you wanna have. But I'm just thinking of a timeline. Here's the sitch.... I've got a case of Amber's Amber Lager already bottled and in the lager fridge. In fact, today is the day I begin to drop the temperature, since it's been two weeks since I bottled it,...

Re: Blending homebrew
I was rooting around in my beer closet for some usable bottles recently. I've had to bottle a couple of batches because they're darker beers I brewed early for the holidays and I want them to cellar for a while and not take up space in my keezer. Anyway, I found a couple of six packs of something I ...

Re: Hello All
Welcome back! I'm glad you got back on the horse. I mix up my brewing with mostly AG batches, and some extract, when I want an easier brew day (or if I just feel like making that beer). And I do five gallon batches and 3 gallon batches, so keep variety in the pipeline. Remember, this is supposed to ...
