Glad to find the Borg

Post by ruidosobruce »

Just over from the other side, I am a relatively newcomer to Mr. Beer brewing. But after my son gave me a MrB kit, I was off and running with 30 batches this year. Actually, I have been brewing off and on since 1969 when my brother and I made some pretty bad beers using Blue Ribbon malt extract and sugar from the grocery store. I found this forum and I'm happy to be here. Thanks Louie

When I first started brewing in the 80's I read lots on Blue Ribbon malt and it made for some pretty bad stories.

Boy does that bring back memories. I was first taught how to make beer in the early 80's by an old country boy from Arkansas, using that Blue Ribbn malt syrup and cane sugar, no hops at all. It was hit and miss- I had a few great batches and a few awful batches, but it was fun. Thanks to the good folks of the Borg, I now understand how to make halfway decent beer, and hope to continue learning until I can make really good beer.

Welcome!

Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts — queerest fancies,
Come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.
