Cool looking beer can! How much does it hold? Do you just open the helmet and pour?

Re: What are you drinking?
Just had a MB Nut Brown Ale (conditioned over two months) along with a thick porter house steak, and garlic mashed potatoes. YUMMMM. Can't get much better (Well, it could, but my wife would not cook while wearing that skimpy French maid's outfit). Don't even think of asking for pictures!

Dogfish Head Imperial IPA
Had one at a pre-Superbowl party, and without doubt one of the best beers I've had. Alcohol content is near 6%, color is medium amber. The fairly rich malt flavor was not overpowered by the hops, which had a medium bitterness, but definitely made enough of a presence to be called an IPA. Mouth feel ...

Broke my leg skiing Dec 25 and a real PITA with all the snow that we have had here on Long Island. It is just too slippery while on crutches. The good news is my wife has been using our snow blower, and doing a great job - I of course supervise

Re: Story Time..How did you get started brewing.
My wife purchased a Mr Beer kit for me just over a year ago. I watched the Mr. Beer video and brewed my first batch, pale ale with a packet of booster. I found the Beer Borg and let it ferment 3 weeks and condition 4 weeks. Not great, but better than Bud or Miller. Several batches later I started ad...

OKtoberfest plus
Started with a can of the Mr. Beer Oktoberfest, added 8 oz LME, steeped 1 pound Vienna, 1/2 oz fuggle for 50 minutes. I used US-05 yeast. Very clean taste, more like a larger than an ale. Not too malty, good body and head retention. Slightly over carbonated (my fault). Next time I'll use the correct...

Re: Mr Beer forum is really dead
I still read the posts and visit, and occasionally post, as I do here. There are new brewers asking questions, and they deserve a good answer to their inquiry or problem. As far as activity, the range of topics, and the expanse of knowledge, this is the place to be. I would not call the Mr. Beer sit...

Re: Wine Enthusiast Top 25 Beers of 2013
Interesting reading how they describe each beer. The $$$ of some of them are more than I would spend on a bottle of wine! (or close to the cost)
The only one I have had is the Anchor Porter, which was very good as described. Guess I'll have to step up my brewing to make next years list

Black Toad Ale - Great body, balanced, coffee hint, a little spice, lingering finish, lighter carbonation than most other dark ales. Served at about 45 degrees F. Just might have another.

John, just a passing note on the sailing forums. I've found the Precision sailboat forum to be a great place - very positive and friendly. I' have not posted much here, but I read most. Also a good, friendly site. Sounds as if you have stepped up your brewing.

As a science teacher, I have grown many microorganisms in "Pond Water". However, they actually seem to do best in Deer Park spring water, and that is what we use in our laboratory experiments. I would bet the yeast appreciate the particular mix of minerals in spring water too. BTW, there i...

Re: Mash time and temperature Question
Thanks -Exactly the information I was looking for. I was not going to add any hops. The 8 oz of LME plus the pound of Vienna should give it a good malty flavor and more body than the MB extract alone.
