Welcome to the Borg, Steve! You can find that info ( need to be signed in ), in the trading post section of the forum and in the sub section " Members Only Deals ". Glad you found this great group of brewers, there are many different levels of brewers her that have probably experienced something that you may have a question about, so please ask, somebody should have an answer for you! The BEST piece of advice is BE PATIENT! If not using an hydrometer, keep your beer fermenting for 3 weeks, then bottle per instruction and let condition at room temp for 4 weeks.

Welcome new folks! Its great to see so many new brewers here. Two things I hope to get to try is mead at some point and cider. They're I guess the last frontiers of beer brewing.

The Nong Brewery defines "Fermentation" as: Making "Rot" a Good Thing

Time for me to step into the world of cider too. Just looked through the cider section and didn't see the Nong Cider recipe out there. Care to post that over there for us cider newbies?Yankeedag wrote:Hey Screwy, try making that Nong Cider. You'll like it.ScrewyBrewer wrote:Welcome new folks! Here ya go Screwy.
FrozenInTime wrote:Here is a simple, yet awesome tasting Hard Cider since u mentioned cider, comes from Yankeedag, one of our esteemed members on here. I have made it several times, it rocks!
NONG Cider (2.25 gallon batch):
5 cans of apple juice concentrate (pure, make sure there are NO preservatives added) (I have also used 2.25 gallons of apple cider, must be fresh with no preservatives)
2 pounds white sugar
1 pound lactose (I found this amount too sweet for me so I backed it down to 4 ounces, depends on how sweet you want it, up to you)
3 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 pack Champaign or Lavine 1118 sparkling wine yeast (I use which ever one I can get my hands on)
You can drink this after 3 months conditioning, but I like to condition it atleast a year (my preference, 3 months is fine). You can go without the lactose but plan on atleast a year conditioning.
But of course, the Mr Beer (have not tried the Brew Devil version) is also good, but IMHO not as.
Edit: Want to add, I do not bottle or keg carb mine, I prefer it still (no carbonation).
